Bruce vs Blaze... REALLY?! C'mon, is like comparing a Dragon to a puppy! Like you said Maidensfan1, BRUCE MAKES THIS SONG JUSTICE!!!! IRON MAIDEN 4LIFE!!!!
@fookfocketyfookfook I tend to agree with you. Blaze´s vocals were/are nowhere nere Bruce´s, range and melodic wise, but Blaze´s vocals are more "raw" in my opinion, which suits this song better I guess. Opinions.
As my Scottish Friend would say To The Bones;from me: never give up, kneel down (if you have to) to better stand up. Till a flame is burning, the night will never be full and till you heart beats, the Life will always wins against darkness and all oppressions. No pain, no sorrow, only Life and the rage of Life against injustice and all sort of misery. Thank you for reading
*an add on to one wook5ter i believe i left a comment on another video where you posted the same quote from the one and only ' I'm gagging for a knighthood ' connelly. I shall repeat myself just as you do and say that he sold his self righteous scottish ass for a higher glory ( I'm scottish btw ) . He was born into poverty , made a name for himself by stealing jokes he shared with co- workers in the shipyards of Glasgow . He fools no one but himself .
not a fan of this kind of music at all but was well impressed how the lyrics matched the tone of the film ..i'll even give you 5* for this one ...well done
Respond to this video...Thanks to RomanWildernessOfPain commenting on my comment I was brought back to this brilliant combination of sound and vision. However. can I ask what came first, the song or the film (movie) ? I can just imagine all Iron Maiden fans recoiling in horror at this question. LOL.
@paulinesmith44 The movie came in 1995 and Virtual XI (where the song fits in) came in 1998. Steve Harris himself said he has been inspired mainly on the movie for the lyrics and music on this track. Hope it helps.
@adamczechmate I love how u put in the live version of The Clansman from th Rock n Rio Concert and the video is amazing! UP THE IRONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
“Braveheart is pure Australian shite…William Wallace was a spy, a thief, a blackmailer – a c**t basically. And people are swallowing it. It’s part of a new Scottish racism, which I loath – this thing that everything horrible is English. It’s conducted by the great unread and the conceited w***ers at the SNP, those drear...y little pr**ks in Parliament who rely on bigotry for support”
@Wook5ter 'William Wallace was blah blah blah, a thief' hey bitch, you cant steal what rightly belongs you already. Would like to see how you would personally react if your home was invaded. Stop your silly martyr routine of 'english=horrible' some things were, some arent. Seems your the one who is seeing in only black & white.
Sorry you lost me at 'hey bitch' - High School must be going well? Hey don't let the facts get in the way of a good story. History doesn't lie; Hollywood does. Don't use expletives, it makes you seen unintelligent.
@Wook5ter rofl, guess shite isnt expletive. Don't use untruths & 'hey kid, you are unschooled and ignorant". It makes you seem douchy & arrogant, and ageist. Why don't you address exactly what he was a thief of, a spy of, and a blackmailer of? Those points specifically. Just know, if you put out offensive comments, ur gonna get a lot more 'hey bitch' responses. xD And don't imply that everything your country or people has ever done is perfect, makes you seem naive and ill-informed.
@Goldhelmriel Sorry I do not understand your high school abbreviations. Do you know what an expletive is? I recommend a dictionary.
Do you know who Billy Connolly is?
Braveheart was written by an American screenwriter called Wallace who knew nothing about William Wallace until after he started writing the film. Good research as our American cousins bastardise Historical accuracy for dollars at the box office. Like Memphis Belle, The Enigma Code etc, etc. Do you want a list of the inaccuracies?
@Wook5ter I find your objections to expletives comical b/c your post is rife with them. Do I want a list of inaccuracies' for the love of god nooo! lol Gibson is well known for historical inaccuracy & quite a lot of Braveheart is, although not entirely and i'm well familiar with them.
cont. My comments are more directly toward Connolly's interpretation of the issue. Regardless, just because Mel's movies are quite inaccurate doesnt make english foreign policy=good. I recommend a few lessons on the impact of foreign armies on native populations (especially for one's own country) & a less arrogant attitude & cessation of personal attacks as a way to give strength? to your opinion.
@Goldhelmriel Braveheart is a film which almost totally sacrifices historical accuracy for epic adventure. The title of the film is also historically inaccurate as the "brave heart" refers in Scottish history to that of Robert the Bruce.
I'm not Scottish, I have been only 2 days in Scotland (Fort Wiliam,Ben Nevis),and back to home by train ,and what I have seen from the train ,lovely country
for all wondering what davidgilmourpr1980's comment was it was as follows
@Product1999 This is just because they can see beauty across and beyond national borders, time and bloodlines. Please, swallow your sarchasm and get out of here!!!
@Product1999 Ironic, yes, but there's nothing wrong with that. Many English people, including myself, have Scottish ties or relatives, and vice versa. And no matter what side of the border we're on I think we can all appreciate the universal theme hundreds of years later. It's a good way of trying to 'heal old wounds' as it were. And Maiden have written songs covering all kinds of historical periods all over the world, so this kind of song is nothing new to them. Peace.
@NewburyDave1 most scots moved out due to poverty...nothing wrong with admitting it...,many cornish welsh and english moved abroad for similar reasons and also persecution by the state.....no sane person hates individuals...but the state can be a different story ;)
Nice video. (can't compete with the original soundtrack which is awesome) but I just uploaded a Braveheart fan video. Soundtrack : Beautiful Folk song "Oh Mary" by Antiqcool.
