@tasha159212 It depends what you mean by "much". Personally I'd say they're quite low maintainence, but as with any animal the more time and effort you put into them, the more you'll get out of keeping them.
@picken2001 Yes the silver hob that I touch with my finger 10 seconds into the video and the smallest light jill with a sandy tail that's always at the back of the shot in the video
@picken2001 Advice about setting up a cage ?. Firstly make sure you get the biggest you can afford and preferably have one that's got more than one level to it. Although that's not essential, ferrets are very curious animals and will going up and down the different levels especially if put some form of tubes in there in there that they can run through and regularly change the toys, balls etc that you put in to prevent boredom
@oldblueeye Also make sure that the cage is not positioned in direct sunlight in summer, ferrets suffer very quickly from heat stroke. If using bowls of water instead of bottles for them to drink check regularly that the y haven't tipped them over.
@picken2001 Hi there, through the warmer months I just bed them on wood shavings or a thin layer of shredded paper, but through the winter I use a thick layer of shredded paper. The reason I use shredded paper instead of of straw/hay is that these can sometimes have ticks in them. Good luck with your albino hob.
@oldblueeye How long is the gestation as mine is something like 2 days overdue but doesn't appear ill or anything? any help would be appreciated. thanks
@oldblueeye hey if you dont mind me asking what was mam and dad to this litter coz mi kits are 1week old and mams albino dad sandy nd hope mine are like yrs
how often do you lose a ferret at birth, i know a lot of times with dogs and cats to lose a baby at birth isnt very uncommon. is it the same with the ferrets?
when i move out and im out of college im just gonna be like " fuck it im gonna raise some ferret babies!!! then breed them when there old enough!! hehe! but thats gonna be awhile considering my only in 5th grade haha!
Sooo adorable. I wish I could find a good breeder in London. Ive been googling like mad, but any in the UK seem to be in the North of England. Know of any in London?
@shazzqsong They're won't be any young available yet as the females only come into season once a year in the spring. But in a couple of months time try contacting the national ferret welfare society
@oldblueeye Hey thanks 4 the info. The closest I could find so far was in edgware and he says he'll let me know when theyre born. Done all my research and got all the stuff. Now to wait until June : )
Beautiful chubby, healthy babies! And bravo on feeding a raw diet. I see my favorite variation in there, the adorable champagne one that wrestles with your fingers at 1:52 and 2:40. I have 2 champagne boys myself, one is a year old and I just brought home his new 6-week-old little brother yesterday. Champagnes are not that common in the U.S. for some reason, even from Marshall Farms. I had to special order my new little boy. Just makes them that much more special I guess. :) <3 Ferrets <3
@thecrazypinkcatlady Thankyou for your comments. In the UK they're more commonly referred to as "sandies" and are actually quite common over here. The most popular or sought over colour seems to be the silver coloured ones at present.
@enfielddnepr American ???I'm nowhere near America. I'll not waste any more time replying to you now as you clearly haven't got a clue about how to rear and care for a litter of baby ferrets.
@enfielddnepr Research, how dare you ????, I've kept and bred healthy happy ferrets all my life. What the hell is wrong with bedding them on shavings and shredded paper. I suggest it's you that needs to do the research
@enfielddnepr You ignorant person, they are bedded on shavings and shredded paper asit's the summer and quite warm. why comment on things you nothing about you fool
@ferretertom Cheers Mate, the two silvers in the litter were both hibs and I've kept them both back. The darkest of them worked well last season but I didn't get out enough with tteh other to do it justice...this winter will bve different though.
now I'm concerned. when we got a ferret kit they said she was 8 weeks but I've seen ferrets on youtube that were 8 weeks and Sable looked way younger than them. comparing what I've seen Sable looked 5-6 weeks old and she was already spayed! could the breeder that sold them to the store lied about her age?
I'm shocked that were spayed at such an early age, I don't know ANY vets near me that would do that at that age. It is possible they lied about her age, I would have been able to tell you for definateif I's seen her at the time.
How adorable! does it take much to take care of one?
