I used to dream about black horses, when I was a kid. Drove my mother crazy, with my "irrational obsession". (especially irrational, considering I was a city girl, and there were no horses around, for miles!)

@glynnth Did you ever obtain your "irrational" dream..? lol I sure hope so, I used to dream about black horses as well..always wanted a fresian or a black andalusion..ended up with a little 14hh bay rocky mountain pony..and I love him with every once of me..lol Truley worth the wait.. :)

Nah, was a "city girl" growing up, and too poor for horses (and all they require), later on in life, unfortunately...

I eventually decided my childhood obsession with a "black horse" was probably some residual memory of something, from a past life... At least I haven't come up with any better explanation, so far.

@glynnth Oh nooo!! lol You should try getting a lesson or two.. =) Might spark up that old flame! I will tell you this, if I had let my obsession go with adulthood I wouldn't know one of the greatest joys of my life. My pony brings me more peace than I could descibe. He truley does make all the difference in my life. I encourage you to give a horse a try and see if you don't fall inlove all over again!

Ever heard that saying - "Can't teach on old dog new tricks"?

It's a nice thought, but in order to have a horse, one must have a place to put it, stuff to feed it, etc... NO GOT!

I decided awhile ago, if I was ever gonna have a horse, it would have to be a little one, since I'm a "little person". &, being very practical, I'd probably only want a horse now, for hauling heavy loads etc. Since I'm "on foot" these days, wish they'd let me have one in the city limits, for just that purpose!

@glynnth Ha ha..why yes i Have heard that saying. I also adopted a 13+yo dog and taught him many new tricks. lol I understand about the no place to put them or being practical, but I highly recomend looking into leasing a horse. a lot of stables do it, and the animal is owned/cared for by the stable(you DON"T supply any feed/vet/boarding fees.. ). You just come ride/take lessons when you want to. =) Hope this helps! Ha ha.. You could always bribe one of the mounted police to give you a lift! =P

Unfortunately, a "beggar" such as me, can't afford to "rent a horse".( I did once unofficially "borrow" a neighbor's horse, to get some water home... Discovered that glass jugs tied across a horses back, do tend to bang together, & BREAK, sometimes! But still managed to get MOST of the water home) & I'm not as crafty as I thought, at sneaking horses out of neighbor's corrals. They were totally aware that I did it, but forgave me...) Since I live in the US, no Mounties to bum rides off of, here!

Here's another saying for ya - "If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all!" (story of my life) My days of "borrowing horses" are long gone, that all happened DECADES ago, & I moved away from that area. Had some funny ideas back then. Like, if I needed something, I believed the "spirits" would "gift" it to me, & when that happened, the item would just be GLOWING! Didn't matter if someone else "owned" it, at the time - It was a gift from the spirits, dang it! They say I'm "crazy"...

This looks like a race (game) that me and my best friend used to play. It was called the potato race. We would run up to a barrel with the potato sitting on it. We would grab the potato and run back and toss it into a bucket. FUN FUN and very good training for your horses too!
