  • Shotly. Undestendly. Nice.

    Senk you.

  • Just seeing your username is GIMPtricks just makes me want to subscribe to you. I just found this video and its the first video i am seeing from you but i am definately subscribing and seeing the rest :) i always needed good tips and tricks to use GIMP more efficiently.

  • @OcarinaZombie Thanks.

  • @GIMPtricks Sorry to bother you again, but now the menu options appear behind the "Hint for" menus. For example, when I click "Edit" in the toolbar, the edit menu appears behind the "Toolbox" menu. I've been searching through the preferences, but no luck so far. Any suggestions? Thanks again.

  • @steveone4 Just keep the toolbox and the image windows next to each other, not on top of each other.

  • Great video. I use Mac and I was wondering if this only works in Windows because all of my elements are completely independent. Its not possible to keep the two side menus in the front. If I'm missing something, please tell me. Thanks.

  • @steveone4 It's best to keep the image windows just in between the two side panels. I'm not sure how it works on a mac, but go to edit ->preferences and set Windows management both to Utility window or if that doesn't work to Keep above.

  • @GIMPtricks That worked perfectly. Thanks again for the video and the tip.

  • When you close it and open it will it stay like that

  • @CBxtutorials Yes. But when you close and open it many times the windows go wandering off a bit. You'll see what I mean when you've opened it a few times. (Unless you're on Linux, then they stay on their place.)

  • wat u use to record ur screen

  • thank you x100! i've been learning about photoshop at school and its really confusing to try to figure out things on GIMP w/o GIMP looking like it... so THANKS!! :D

  • @FirstClassHeroines I hope it helps a bit. It's not easy learning something in one program and then having to figure out how to do it in another.

  • I learned a lot from this video. Just curious, did you stick with the photoshop look on your gimp?

  • @eeyyaakk No, I've never used the photoshop layout myself. Just did this to show how you can customise GIMP.

  • @GIMPtricks you can do the exact same thing with photoshop. lol

  • thank you

  • I think your Dutch? :P If youre dutch: Hallo :P

  • Very nice video. Helped me a lot! I have Photoshop CS5, but GIMP has so many nice scripts and tutorials...Of course PS has way more options and tools but it's expensive and lots of people focus on mastering Gimp...

Now off to the second part :P, thank you for your lesson GIMPtricks.

  • a girl?

    BOOOOBSS!

Haha im just kidding nice tut :)!

  • U sound o so dutch :p

but np since i'm belgian :p

    leuke tutorial !

  • Omg, she sound just like my Aunt, and that's very distracting

  • @PeachGirl009

ROFLOL I have a sound-alike. Hope your aunt is a nice woman. ;)

  • OMG, I never even noticed all the comments by pswft10. So out of curiosity I click on his name. Account closed. LOL

  • Sorry if those are older comments, but, OMG! This is NOT Kirk vs Picard. Grow up, pswft10...

  • @ChozoSR388 Kirk all the way though, he was sexier. ;-)

  • nederlands ;-)

  • -curves on alpha channel. I wasn't saying that GIMP is better than Photoshop. I'm learning to use photoshop as well and I'm just missing some of the features of GIMP. There are features of Photoshop that I think are really good. I probably won't be dropping GIMP though.

  • I'm finding it impossible to do a lot of the things that I used to do on GIMP on Photoshop. Just today, I was amazed over the lack of control photoshop has over the alpha channel (no not a mask. every layer that has transparency already has an alpha channel). And right now I'm losing it because I can't move layer boundries. One week in and I'm missing GIMP big time.

  • awesome lesson i have just switched over from photo shop as i have friends who swear by this program say it just as good if not better the PS and it is free so i will be watching all your tutorials 5/5 cheers

  • I found out that if you have a specific theme installed you can not squeeze the toolbox to display just 2 rows but only down to 3 rows of tools. What I did was set my Gimp back to default and then made the changes explained here, then change the theme if you want and it's displayed perfectly. :-) Thank you!

  • Cool tips
