To this day, I still do not know how those pilots missed the autopilot disconnect and bank angle warnings. Pulling back on the yoke while still in a wing over spiral only made the situation worse. I guess they panicked! Poor souls, all of them.

The "shaking handle" was the overspeed warning. And anyway we can't hear the impact (fortunately), because the CVR recorded the crew's sounds until the altitude app. 4000m (13-14k feet).
This is a navigational error where the instruments reported wrong data (speed, altitude). The pilots were flying blind. They have no idea if they veered to the right, straight, up, or down.

The pilots were trying to pull up while their bank level was 100 degrees and their pitch angle 60 degrees. This is getting close to being upside down. The voices you hear at the very end are from the control tower, I believe.
The crew while realigned the IRU's which displays the aircrafts attitude and required for autopilot/cdu operation forgot that manual control is required. The Autopilot disengaged and began a slow bank without any of the crew noticing, this developed into a further bank exceeding 30 degrees and the aircraft began entered into a rapid decent. Without reverting to the standby instruments the crew never recovered from the decent and the aircraft broke up and crashed with wings banked nose down.
Pushed off course by strong winds, pilots focused on navigation issues. At 3:44 you can hear Autopilot disengage, alarm sounds for 5 seconds. Pilots totally ignore AP shutoff for 37 seconds until 4:21 when "Bank Angle" warning sounds. At 4:42 Auto Trim kicks in until impact. 4:54 the calls to Allah begin. Pilots know they're dead. 5:14 windshield breaks from speed and G-forces, scares pilots, they scream. 5:34 Impact with water at 500 knots. RIP

The pilots were pulling the plane out of a near vertical dive. They pulled out too sharply, overstressed the airplane with then tore apart before hitting the water.
The pilots didn't notice this until the bank angle warning, and by then they were so disoriented (flying through a severe storm) they didn't know which way was up, and pulled back on the control column. The plane stalled (stick shaker warning) rolled over onto it's back and started a high speed downward spiral. The sound u hear just as the pilots grunt and yell is the sound of the plane coming apart. They hit the water at close to the speed of sound...
That wasn't the stick shaker, that was the overspeed warning. They just deepened the spiral by pulling back instead of leveling the wings ("graveyard spiral"). There was no "stall."
it was an older plane that had a tendency to roll to the right, like a bad shopping cart. The autopilot compensated for that but when they switched the IRS to ATT it disconnected the autopilot. For whatever reason the pilots knew it had switched off (u can hear the warning) but didn't do much about it, they were too busy trying to figure out why they were off course. The plane started rolling to the right, about one degree per second...
I wish people would give these passengers a bit of respect! These people won't ever speak again, never will they be able to hug their relatives and friends. They're gone. A documentary I saw said the navigation system was programmed wrong before take-off (something along those lines) so the crew were essentially lost. They switched auto-pilot off and were so absorbed in trying to work out where they were, that they didn't notice the plane starting to roll to the side till it was too late and they just went into uncontrollable spin and crashed.
That was Unreal. Like a dream. Like if it was my last few minutes. Good Lord. HOLY cow

To this day, I still do not know how those pilots missed the autopilot disconnect and bank angle warnings. Pulling back on the yoke while still in a wing over spiral only made the situation worse. I guess they panicked! Poor souls, all of them.

The "shaking handle" was the overspeed warning. And anyway we can't hear the impact (fortunately), because the CVR recorded the crew's sounds until the altitude app. 4000m (13-14k feet).

This is a navigational error where the instruments reported wrong data (speed, altitude). The pilots were flying blind. They have no idea if they veered to the right, straight, up, or down.

I fail to see a motive for anyone to construct, record, and release a seemingly accurate and entirely convincing CVR.
Conversely, a CVR release is an International Civil Aviation Organization offence and would be a huge black eye to the Indonesian Transportation Authority who were already under pressure due to its lax safety standards.
To me it makes more sense that this statement was damage control as all Indonesian Airlines were already banned from the European Union due to fatal accidents.

The pilot did not realize that their Plane banking, even the computer said BANKING. Captain shout the Co pilot not stir and just pull up.
When the plane is banking without level the plane, by pulling it cause the plane nose down faster.

@sonyfreak4069 It is impossible that anyone drowned. The aircraft was nosediving at a speed of over 900 kph before (possibly) breaking-up just over the ocean. Impact would have been instantly fatal. Terrifying, perhaps. But painful, no.

@CCTSPORTES If you're speaking of the thump heard at 5:15, I would assume that this is when the plane began to breach its structural limits. The pilots were trying to pull up while their bank level was 100 degrees and their pitch angle 60 degrees. This is getting close to being upside down. Pulling up would tighten their bank and increase their rate of dive.
The voices you hear at the very end are from the control tower, I believe.

The crew while realigned the IRU's which displays the aircrafts attitude and required for autopilot/cdu operation forgot that manual control is required. The Autopilot disengaged and began a slow bank without any of the crew noticing, this developed into a further bank exceeding 30 degrees and the aircraft began entered into a rapid decent. Without reverting to the standby instruments the crew never recovered from the decent and the aircraft broke up and crashed with wings banked nose down.

Pushed off course by strong winds, pilots focused on navigation issues. At 3:44 you can hear Autopilot disengage, alarm sounds for 5 seconds. Pilots totally ignore AP shutoff for 37 seconds until 4:21 when "Bank Angle" warning sounds. At 4:42 Auto Trim kicks in until impact. 4:54 the calls to Allah begin. Pilots know they're dead. 5:14 windshield breaks from speed and G-forces, scares pilots, they scream. 5:34 Impact with water at 500 knots. RIP

I'm not convinced by any religion because my beliefs actually require evidence. Most people just hold the same religious beliefs that their parents happen to arbitrarily hold. at 4:44.. that was not the stick shaker, that was the overspeed warning.. it's obvious they were in a spiral dive... they had bank angle warnings before the overspeed started.. then they hit water... bad piloting sticks out just be listening to them... control of the aircraft is number one concern doesn't matter what you fly.. but it sounds like they are too busy pressing buttons instead of flying the airplane... too bad... this is a sad story.

I don't know what kind of trajectory this plane was coming down in, but it almost sounds to me like the hit the water long before the sound cuts off. In fact, it sounds to me like the cockpit is filling up with water those last few seconds. Hard to tell from a damaged recording. Anyone knowledgeable of the actual specifics of the crash?

The pilots didn't notice this until the bank angle warning, and by then they were so disoriented (flying through a severe storm) they didn't know which way was up, and pulled back on the control column. The plane stalled (stick shaker warning) rolled over onto it's back and started a high speed downward spiral. The sound u hear just as the pilots grunt and yell is the sound of the plane coming apart. They hit the water at close to the speed of sound...

That wasn't the stick shaker, that was the overspeed warning. They just deepened the spiral by pulling back instead of leveling the wings ("graveyard spiral"). There was no "stall."

it was an older plane that had a tendency to roll to the right, like a bad shopping cart. The autopilot compensated for that but when they switched the IRS to ATT it disconnected the autopilot. For whatever reason the pilots knew it had switched off (u can hear the warning) but didn't do much about it, they were too busy trying to figure out why they were off course. The plane started rolling to the right, about one degree per second...

I have seen people get hit by a car get up run oh 50 or so feet then collapse and start asking what happened only to find their leg is broken in three parts with a bone sticking out the side and they don't initially feel it..
There have been reports of people being shot and not knowing until they see blood..
There are stories of people surviving a highway car crash they claim they don't remember the crash but have every bone busted in their body!! ??

you been playing too much GTA san andreas lol...the plane would go down like a torpedo breaking every part of the aircraft that is already in water...and is the plane drops into the water the rest of the plane will start to get destroyed...bear in mind this would happen instantly.....so lets jus imagine the plane going 300MPH at Point Of Impact or POI the G force would me extreme so it would probably knowck the passengers out but by the time they are fuly knocked out they would probably be dead.

A documentary I saw said the navigation system was programmed wrong before take-off (something along those lines) so the crew were essentially lost. They switched auto-pilot off and were so absorbed in trying to work out where they were, that they didn't notice the plane starting to roll to the side till it was too late and they just went into uncontrollable spin and crashed.
