The wealth transferred from foreign Islamic rulers to foreign Western rulers..thats all.Its not like the Mughals built roads, bridges and the train system with the money they took from people as taxes. They used all that money for their own palaces and their harems. While you quote Maddison, you choose to ignore a crucial part of his study that reveals that India's GDP in the pre-Islamic era was 40% of the World's GDP, and reduced from 32% in 1300 AD right upto 20% by 1800 BC. This GDP of 20% in the Mughal era was all the wealth owing to trade but locked up in the Mughal palaces. Once the British took over the wealth moved to Britain. Either ways the wealth of a nation was in possession of a few rulers. Today's India's GDP comes 60% from consumption....
