Debt Collector Forgets English in Middle of Call

These calls from "collectors" with accents, usually East Indian, are all scams. They are not legitimate bill collectors, lawyers, or cops as they claim and the debts are not real. They say they are representing a non-existant company that is made up, and uses a name similar to a real company. They are using threats or arrest and such to defraud people and get bank account and debit card numbers. They get their info off phishing sites, such as when someone signs up for a credit card online.

@shreader3 These collectors break federal law in trying to get the money. These third party companies purchase your bad dept for pennies on the dollar. If and when you pay these companies, the money doesn't go to the original debt but it goes to these third party companies.

@DNYLNY Who are "these collectors"? I certainly don't think you are claiming a few bad people represent the entire industry? It does not matter if the debt is sold, transfers of debt to different entities is common place in the finance sector, it does not mean the debt is not owed. Nobody ever stop's owing a bill, just because it is no longer on your credit report does not mean that it is still not owed. Just because you can't be sued does not mean its not owed... only immoral ppl steal $
