Don't try to use multiple "distortion" units. Use overdrive pedals, otherwise you will have a huge nasty unuseable sound. The more lower gain overdrive pedals you have, the more versatile of a drive you can achieve. Less is more, gentlemen.
OR instead of having your delay in your chain, you can run an effects loop. I've found that running delay and other effects like those in an effects loop apart from overdrives/distortions proves to make both sound better. Also, if you run an effects loop but keep your volume pedal in your chain, swells sound much better because the volume pedal doesn't effect you effects. Of course, all of this comes down to personal preference. My being introduced to an effects loop changed my life haha.
To be more specific it looks to be a real deal 1972 thinline. The 72 differs from the 69 thinline (with standard tele pickups) with what are called wide range pickups. The alloys used in these pickups are no longer available which is why the original 72's go for thousands. But Novac and Lollar make some great replicas. You can get a thinline re-issue in a Mexi, Japanese or the just released American re-issue. I have a MIJ that is great but hope to upgrade the pickups on.
i have an A B C D E F G H I J,system for gain stages.Just one more excuse to have more pedals and to fill my house with overdrive and distortion goodness.....................................
@DReidGuitars lolol epic. Just wondering, do you layer them or always play individually? I've been putting my board together and not too sure if it'll sound muddy if I layer a lower-gain one with a higher-gain one. Or should I use two lower gain ones together??? Anyone else know? haha.
@sullivan113 deprnding on the song, i will just use one pedal, but on faster, more rock type song like certain Kutless songs i layer them and i layer them to get different textures. like i have a eh germanium overdrive( a smooth overdrive) and a green screamer( harsher, vintage, more saturated overdrive. i usually stack them for a rock rhythm guitar tone. stack as much pedals as you want, if the sound starts to mud raise ur treble mids and tone or buy a bbe sonic maximizer. and invest in the eh
Hi i have a question?? I have a Memory Man With Hazarai is very complicated, your DD20 is more Complicated??? i referrer in the funcionalities in LIVE?'
I like the A,B,C explanation. I do guitar workshops at Christ For the Nations Institute and I'll have to add that into my curriculum. Keep rockin' bro!
@WGResources .. The A,B,C is good to cover bcuz that I noticed at CFNI most have/only use either a clean sound or just 1 overdriven sound, which sounds too much or too little in different songs
Hey bud,I liked your vid so much and how you showcased the dd20 that I went and got one.Thx for the vid and make some more tuits plz!!! What would you suggest for a standard dirty delay setting and standard clean? Thx. Be Blessed!!!
Is that an original 72' Fender Thinline? Oh, and how do you like the keeley modded blues driver compared to the original? I'm debating between modding my blues driver OR going with a Fulltone full-drive mosfet. Which would you suggest? Getting ready to do Fine arts which is a nation wide church competition and I'm just trying to get everything set up :D
@xDyer2394x Go with the Fulldrive 2. It has both Overdrive and Boost, so you can really utilize your Overdrive for a B level kind of gain (not to much, not to little) and the Boost is primarily to boost your volume when it's instrumental time. I plan to get a Fulldrive 2 which completes my ABC gain levels.
@OBS1Di0N The song is called Morning star and it's by Al Gordon, does some of the worship at worship central events and does the pod-cast with tim hughes

he made a mistake in saying that an1/8th note tap tempo will give you the straight tempo you tap. At least with the tap tempos I'm familiar with a 1/4 note sub division will give your staight tapped tempo and an 1/8 note subdivision will be twice as fast as the tapped tempo,
Depends. My order is BB preamp, tube screamer, volume pedal, chorus or vibe then delay in loop. that way I can preload sounds or lower the noise from the drive pedals.
HWYau - Place your volume pedal after your OD's and before your Multi's/Delays/FX's. Ernie Ball's suck tone - it's worth checking out a Goodrich Volume Pedal -- I'll never get rid of mine.
@HWYau passive for sure, but as for order its totally up to you. i used to put mine first in my chain but now i have it after my overdrives. i think the way i have it now is better for doing swells with delay
Definatly start off with at least one overdrive, two is preferable though, generaly one harsher one and one softer one, say a jeckyll and hyde overdrive/distortion or a vodoo labs Sparkle drive. Then you'll need a delay that has a tap tempo function that can play dotted 8th notes, say a boss dd7. This is a good starting point that you can still get some awesome sounds out of
