  • Don't try to use multiple "distortion" units. Use overdrive pedals, otherwise you will have a huge nasty unuseable sound. The more lower gain overdrive pedals you have, the more versatile of a drive you can achieve. Less is more, gentlemen.

  • Thanks for your detailed discussion about the effects! Very helpful. God bless!

  • @kevinlolification. This rig could easily hit 3 grand, not including a good tube amp.

  • what do you guys think such a "set" costs?

  • @Kevinlolification i would think you could get a solid set up(amp, pedals, etc) for about 1000 to get started... maybe extra 500 to tune it up

  • what a great break down of everything! this inspires me to do so much more with my pedals. thanks man!

  • i like to have an A, B, C, D and E... and F

  • @markb1231 So do I

  • this helped a lot! i've been looking into buying new effects to use in the worship bland i play at my youth group! thanks!!

  • How do you have your whammy set up? Please reply =)

  • OR instead of having your delay in your chain, you can run an effects loop. I've found that running delay and other effects like those in an effects loop apart from overdrives/distortions proves to make both sound better. Also, if you run an effects loop but keep your volume pedal in your chain, swells sound much better because the volume pedal doesn't effect you effects. Of course, all of this comes down to personal preference. My being introduced to an effects loop changed my life haha.

  • what guitar is that?

  • @100grapes

a thinline telecaster, can't give any more info than that

  • @100grapes

To be more specific it looks to be a real deal 1972 thinline. The 72 differs from the 69 thinline (with standard tele pickups) with what are called wide range pickups. The alloys used in these pickups are no longer available which is why the original 72's go for thousands. But Novac and Lollar make some great replicas. You can get a thinline re-issue in a Mexi, Japanese or the just released American re-issue. I have a MIJ that is great but hope to upgrade the pickups on.

  • Great video. I've been missing the "B" sound, out of the ABC system...

  • the building looks like a catholic church lol

  • @nathan2rock So? what's the problem?

  • @rccbatv nothing, just pointing it out

  • @nathan2rock ;)

  • Which Wah Pedal is he using? Cry baby or Vox???

  • i have an A B C D E F G H I J,system for gain stages.Just one more excuse to have more pedals and to fill my house with overdrive and distortion goodness.....................................

  • @DReidGuitars lolol epic. Just wondering, do you layer them or always play individually? I've been putting my board together and not too sure if it'll sound muddy if I layer a lower-gain one with a higher-gain one. Or should I use two lower gain ones together??? Anyone else know? haha.

  • @sullivan113 deprnding on the song, i will just use one pedal, but on faster, more rock type song like certain Kutless songs i layer them and i layer them to get different textures. like i have a eh germanium overdrive( a smooth overdrive) and a green screamer( harsher, vintage, more saturated overdrive. i usually stack them for a rock rhythm guitar tone. stack as much pedals as you want, if the sound starts to mud raise ur treble mids and tone or buy a bbe sonic maximizer. and invest in the eh

  • @DReidGuitars (continue) bug dehummer. it kills all hum and doesnt affect tone. hope this helps. after ur finish post a vid of ur gear. :)

  • @DReidGuitars cheers bro! And I will :)

  • two delays excessive? I've got 3 and another on the way... I sir, am excessive with delay

  • nice shoes!

  • this is great. you've covered all the things lead guitarists need and how to use them. great job!

  • great vid. very helpful. ebow and delay are first on my wishlist.

  • Awesome, it's gonna help me a lot...

Thanks man, creative guitar player, yeah, it makes the difference...

  • keeley modded blues driver. i like!

  • 4 years of practice - learnt more in 9 minutes. Well done Tim Last

    From another Tim Last...

  • Love the video, thanks man! Is your guitar vintage or the reissue?

  • How do you spell that thing he uses to excite the string? an eebo? ibo? i NEED one of those!!! lol

  • @pancakes76194 E-Bow

  • @pancakes76194 Ebow or plusebow...like a bow on a cello, you know?

  • true bypass loopers are great for when you have more pedals

  • What Gibson Is that in the background?

  • you forgot to mention. TUBE AMPS. my goodness does it help a ton! i bought a Vox AC30 and it changed the way i play.

  • @joshuarugg AMEN!!!!!!!!

  • @joshuarugg some new digotal amps have done a good job of replicating the tube amps

  • What wah pedal is He using??

  • @blackhaste Looks like it's a Jim Dunlop Crybaby, although it could be a Vox, but I'm pretty sure it's the former.

  • Hi i have a question?? I have a Memory Man With Hazarai is very complicated, your DD20 is more Complicated??? i referrer in the funcionalities in LIVE?'

  • I like the A,B,C explanation. I do guitar workshops at Christ For the Nations Institute and I'll have to add that into my curriculum. Keep rockin' bro!

  • @WGResources .. The A,B,C is good to cover bcuz that I noticed at CFNI most have/only use either a clean sound or just 1 overdriven sound, which sounds too much or too little in different songs

  • Hey bud,I liked your vid so much and how you showcased the dd20 that I went and got one.Thx for the vid and make some more tuits plz!!! What would you suggest for a standard dirty delay setting and standard clean? Thx. Be Blessed!!!

  • Is that an original 72' Fender Thinline? Oh, and how do you like the keeley modded blues driver compared to the original? I'm debating between modding my blues driver OR going with a Fulltone full-drive mosfet. Which would you suggest? Getting ready to do Fine arts which is a nation wide church competition and I'm just trying to get everything set up :D

  • @xDyer2394x Go with the Fulldrive 2. It has both Overdrive and Boost, so you can really utilize your Overdrive for a B level kind of gain (not to much, not to little) and the Boost is primarily to boost your volume when it's instrumental time. I plan to get a Fulldrive 2 which completes my ABC gain levels.

  • Is that an original 72' Fender Thinline?

  • Where is your whammy in the signal chain? Before or after drive, before or after delay? Thanks

  • the thinline is mexican? or japanese?

  • you're not using any distortion pedals, you're using overdrive. they're quite different

  • Man, your video is just amazing!!

  • Dude that was so nice and clear and easy to listen to! Thanks so much..

  • on on on its ac15c1

  • Good tutorial!

  • is he using an AC30 or AC15?

  • @Tlarsen289 It looks like an AC15 to me

  • is anyone sure what model fender that is? It looks like the 72 thinline but i know there is another model that looks similar.

  • What is the name of the song at the start of your video? btw great tuit, very informative, more please :)

  • @OBS1Di0N The song is called Morning star and it's by Al Gordon, does some of the worship at worship central events and does the pod-cast with tim hughes

  • @JRNicholson27794 Thanks for the reply and info, that song has anointing all over it,and so does Worship Central!!!

  • That was nice of your girlfriend to let you borrow her shoes...just kidding mate.. great video, thanks for posting.

  • What pedals where used at 1:45?

  • @Chocolateman116 mainly delay, maybe some chorus, and reverb also.

  • Tim Last gave me a distorted whammy in my fuzz box

  • Hot stuff man .. Praise God for this !!

  • very comprehensive, a great resources for the guys just starting out.

  • Cool stuff!!!

  • awesome video!! this is what i have been searching for for years!! God bless you good on you! :)

  • you use the volume pedal betwen what?

  • ahh ok... before delay after dist..

  • Please help me were did you connect your delay on from of the amp or on loop back of the amp.

  • anyone know what song is used in the intro to the video???

  • @redline10029 I've been wondering that too... :P

  • What did he say? a dd20 boss and what?

    thanks.

  • @PeidoLord It's a Line 6 DL4 that he uses with the DD20 as far as delays go

  • he made a mistake in saying that an1/8th note tap tempo will give you the straight tempo you tap. At least with the tap tempos I'm familiar with a 1/4 note sub division will give your staight tapped tempo and an 1/8 note subdivision will be twice as fast as the tapped tempo,

  • That was an extremely helpful vid; thanks! God bless

  • Depends. My order is BB preamp, tube screamer, volume pedal, chorus or vibe then delay in loop. that way I can preload sounds or lower the noise from the drive pedals.

  • does anyone have any suggestions as to where in my pedal chain i should put my volume pedal? and also if i should get an active or passive one?

  • Comment removed

  • @HWYau passive for sure, but as for order its totally up to you. i used to put mine first in my chain but now i have it after my overdrives. i think the way i have it now is better for doing swells with delay

  • what version is that Fulltone OCD?

  • im pretty sure its a v3

  • What are the best pedals to own for some1 that plays worship music? Must know plz help!!!

  • Definatly start off with at least one overdrive, two is preferable though, generaly one harsher one and one softer one, say a jeckyll and hyde overdrive/distortion or a vodoo labs Sparkle drive. Then you'll need a delay that has a tap tempo function that can play dotted 8th notes, say a boss dd7. This is a good starting point that you can still get some awesome sounds out of

  • Plus an AC30 has 2 12'' speaker and also another handle in the middle. I should know, I own one! :-)

  • Thanx mate helpfull alot.

  • Like ow wud I ever get all dat stuff?!?!

  • kwl affects and stuff :)

  • What about a chorus pedal, Tim? I use it almost every worship service I play in!

  • is that an AC-30 or an AC-15

  • That's an AC15 I believe

  • thank you :), but how can you tell they look almost identical

  • The AC30 is slightly taller

  • oh ok yeah i guess i didnt think about that

  • Hey Tim where do you have your knobs on your AC-15?

  • hey where did you get your shoes from?! thats all i care about!

  • Comment removed

  • @drewstr112 I think they're toms?

  • @FenderGuy1981 I those are TOMS too!

  • nice!

  • It's a vintage 70s Thinline Telecaster - not sure which year though. They're really cool and unique because of the wide range humbuckers which can no longer be replicated b/c they don't make the same magnets anymore.

  • '72 Fender Telecaster Tinline. It also comes in a tabacco sunburst

  • what model telecaster is that, i would love to know! lol

  • awesome... nice shoes by the way... haha

  • EXCELLENT video.

    Keep em coming.

    Great job guys!

  • Learn your scales :) True...

But a really cool tutorial sort of video.

    Thanks on that!
