@jdub00776 Contrary to popular belief, rockets aren't stuffed with hundred dollar bills for use as fuel. Every red cent spent on American satellites goes into the Ameican economy.
It's also an interesting fact that the only American industrial sector with a trade surplus is aerospace.
@LovingPoontang69 how about Wernher von Braun. The man who made the moon landings possible. But really forget about these failures. What about the Soviet N1 moon rocket? Which BTW had no successes.
@KlimaticEgo Actually, I don't think people died. I thought these were TEST rockets. I highly doubt they would actually put people inside those experimental rockets. But I think people would be scared in a potentially explosive rocket.
@DistantFreedom eerrrrr no, Some of them actually contained people. I remember their was a rocket which failed to take off and hundreds of scientists died.
The last one was not funny. It was not shown as it really happened and it was designed to get a laugh out of the audience. A total misrepresentation of the early problems that beset new programs. The Right Stuff: don't quote everything you see as history.
Though this does feature actual rocket failures, this video is a dramatization. It is a clip from the motion picture "The Right Stuff" (1980). Not knocking the movie, though; it's a classic. But the person who posted this clip should have clarified this.
@yoyomonkey1 Yeah, you should stop in and tell them what they're doing wrong. I'm sure they'd appreciate the input from an accomplished aerospace engineer such as yourself.
