Most of the weapons in the Dead Space series aren't weapons, but tools. The pulse rifle is a military weapon, which doesn't really fit the theme if the game. I vote for cutting plasma.

I've got to wonder how the plasma cutter came to be concieved as a cutting implement or surgical tool. When is a single shot plasma bolt going to be suitable for cutting stuff that doesn't try to eat your face? However, I'm still siding with it because it's arguably to the Dead Space series what the crowbar is to the Half-Life series.

I've played both, with plasma only, and pulse rifle only playthrough. No gun except plasma. My other run was plasma in the first half ( you really have no choice) and pulse for the rest. Survived fairly easily, and played both on zealot, ng+ with everything upgraded.

I usually have both in my inventory. The pulse rifle is my favorite prime weapon because of it's accuracy coupled with the fast firing rate and large ammo clip. The secondary fire can be used to stun necromorphs allowing you to dispatch them more easily. The Pulse Rifle also has great stopping power. That's great for charging necromorphs. Usually I carry atleast 10 clips of a fully upgraded pulse rifle magazine. Most would not recommend the spray option but I can say that if your really stuck t

i found the seeker the most effective in the hardest mode (cant remember what its called). You would think a less 1-shot-precision weapon would be better for a zombie game, but when its fully upgraded its 1 shot, 1 necromorph. As long as you are ok with making your field of vision smaller (zooming in makes ur shots do like 3x the dmg), it got me through hard mode the easiest.

My opinion of which is better ? I'd say..... both. Because i finished Dead Space 1 and 2 (almost) with only a plasma cutter, pulse rifle and line gun (last mentioned was used very little though) and both were REALY usefull. Seriously, i just can't decide :P

Had such a hard time picking weps in DS2. Went with the cutter even though I <3 the rifle. If only the secondary was the same as the first game! So sick. Grenade is good but boring. Plasma is realll bland but it's just so versatile and solid. I always have so much ammo too. But man, the first one- when my rifle was poppin with nodes... shieeeeeeeeeet it was my favorite gun for sure. Oh how I miss it. It holds a special place in my heart. you can kill brute in 1 alt fire with almost fully upgraded (maybe 2 nodes in alt fire) linegun in normal diifficulty. i don't know if it still can in harder difficulty though.

pulse rifle :9 damage per shot. 3-4 shot in sec = 27-36 damage per sec

Pulse Rifle, because if you have the DLC that comes with the GOV Pulse Rifle it has a 5% damage boost has 25 more shots also reloads faster, plus if you upgrade that all the way with the Advanced Security Suit, well all I can say is your unstoppable.

I choose both I like plasma cutter for single player, because it is easier to kill necromorphs and it always is a great weapon for certain parts to cut. however it is very sluggish in multiplayer even if it is upgraded it still is crap when it comes to facing necromorph players. I do like the pulse rifle and its granade launcher feature when it comes to multiplayer and it is still reliable for single player, however even with upgrade in harder difficulties its a piece of crap!

First off, its not a fucking shoot-em-up game, its survival horror. Secondly, everyone knows rapid-fire is terrible for survival horror and for anything zombies (in this case necromorphs). Read the Zombie Survival Guide and you would know. Plasma Cutter ftw.
