This was right next to a free way exchange and a chemical (Lubrizol) plant. another 1/4 mile down track and it would have taken out the plant. I was stuck in traffic a few miles down track on another over pass and could see the flames from the next town, Mentor. I called my local country station (WKKY 104.7 Geneva) and requested "Ring of Fire - Johnny Cash" over and over till they said on the air "We're not going to play Ring of Fire; it's not funny right now!" I was satisfied they said it.
This was the CSX freight train Q380-09 with the leader BNSF 4836, from Chicago to Selkirk New York. Now its important to remember just how lucky we were in this. While ethanol is flammable, it is non-toxic. This could have been much worse if accuall toxic materials like chlorine or anhydrous ammonia were spilled.
