just a question out of curiousity : Is that double headed Karnataka Express run by electircal engine like WAM/WAP or is it something that runs on diesel like the ones on Goa to Kolhapur??
My family and I went on this from Bangalore to NEw Delhi in 1990. It took us 48 hours to reach there. It was agreat experience to pass through the great Indian Deccan and plains. Most memorable was passing through Maharastra and its black soil and Jhansi fort during the early morning and the sugarcane fields between Agra and New Delhi.

@rahuls1s At that time, the Karnataka used to be electric hauled between New Delhi and Itarsi. From there on, it used to get twin WDM2s.

@vb642 This practice is still there and the Karnataka now gets twin WDM3D from Itarsi.

@vb642
its as if the train is using 'reversers' to decelerate - just like planes do ... :D

if the line is electric why is the train running with a diesel engine?
lulutuby 3 years ago
That's because of the loco links for this train. It gets a twin-diesel unit from Itarsi.

Are you a train driver

No. I am just an avid IR enthusiast. I got a chance to travel on the WDM2 because an uncle of mine used to be the DRM of Bhusaval at that time.
