Media outlets don't often report about the things that go right or the people that do their job well, there's no shock value in that. Cops, kids, schools, companies, if they do 99 out of a hundred things right, no one will ever know, but as soon as they slip up that one time, everyone knows, and everyone assumes that one time speaks for all the others. Media is still a business at the end of the day, and from a business standpoint profit is the bottom line.

If we pursue a traffic stop and you fail to comply with our requests for information we can arrest you for failure to comply. @Britishdude1 4. Percentage of people who speed is probably over 80%. He's one of the few good cops out there that don't let people who break the law get away because they cry or try to get sympathy and because of this, a lot of people dislike him.
It is very rare to find a cop with this kind of integrity. I say this because of an acquaintance who is an ex-cop. He told me that he retired from the force because he was sick and tired of the politics, meaning things like this - "don't give a ticket to him, he's the Mayor's nephew", "let this guy get off easy, he's the son of retired deputy John Doe", etc...
You can hear from the tape he is clearly busy, he doesn't have the time to sit their and listen to the sob story from Grandma, he gets that all the time. That's why she felt he was 'abrupt'. He was as polite as he could be short of telling her to shut up or just outright ignoring her.

In the Defendant's world this is how a cop will stop you: "I'm terribly sorry to inconvenience you because I do realize you are in a hurry and I really don't mean to hurt your feelings, but my radar thingy says you were speeding, so as much as I hate to do it I need to give you a ticket. She would consider being a Judge and using that to get out of a ticket to be just as bad as some retired police officer's wife or retired police officer's daughter doing the same. The issue of this case with this cop and the one with him and the ex-cop's daughter, weren't really about the ticket, but their lame "revenge" tactics of accusing him of things that are lies.
