ah nissan were cheating, this 7.29 was more than likely done on slick tires. Porsche were suspicious about the fast lap time so they got a GTR non modified and the best lap they could do was a massive 25 seconds slower than the GTR. That means a 7.54 lap. BMW m3 csl is faster by 4 seconds.
I suggest that the critics of GT-R watch the episodes of Top Gear from BBC about this car. Is not just about HP, its have a lot to do also how GT-R acelerate (4 Wheel Drive) and make corners faster than the rivals.
Also check the auto magazines from around the globe, its impossible that everybody is wrong!!!

yeah the gt-r has way more than 480hp. some tuners have actually measured more than 480hp at the wheels on a dyno!! (which translates to about 540-550 at the crank). nissan has always underrated the gt-r. it was the same case with the r34. that car made way more than the 280hp

The GTR that ran 7:29 is the Euro Nissan...US and Euro has different suspension than the J-Spec Models, they also has a higher boost than the J-Spec Version. The same driver that ran 7:38, also the same driver that got 7:29, and its not a MODD GTR dummy, and NO its not a V-Spec Model either. The V-Spec is a 2 seater, -330lbs, 7 gears, extra 80-100HP+, this is a 4 seater..

There is no motorsport where a car is timed from a standstill in a qualifying round except drag racing. Same goes for public track times. Plus considering the short straight where the starting line is the car would lose about 1-3sec so it would still put the overpriced ZR1 to shame.

the nissan gt-r is a great car but i think this video is false though. nissan admitted the suspension was redone on this car to reflect the european and american models, and the car starts off on a running start where normal times are recorded when the car starts at a standstill. nissan has been caught fudging results in the past so i wouldnt be surprised at all if this wasnt the production car, the stats given by nissan although it is a handling car i believe it lacks power to make that time
what is it against the law to improve the car. Remember the Japanese strive to improve things along with Europeans rather than what meet minimum requirements like American auto manufacturers.
i highly doubt the zr-1 will even post times close to the new gt-rs lap time. im expecting 736 or 737 out of the zr-1. maybe 735. but its not going to have anything on the base GT-R.

One interesting point I should mentioned is that the way the GTR drives and you'll notice this from the Best motoring test and the video in shown here. The steering movement is full of corrections, I'm not sure why but I suspect probably because the computer reacted to the driver's input and make the car more turnable and thus the driver's steering angle has to be reduced.
Seems not natural to me, Porsche is more natural. nevetheless, the machine is fast

All official times are timed using standing starts. Rolling starts are unofficial. BTW, the GT-R was using slick tires, so they have yet to prove that they are faster than the 911 Turbo on the Ring while going bone stock.

evo's are fast but once the aftermarket starts developing parts for the gtr its game over. and nissan lied about 500hp both the gtr's that are arriving at future nissan in rosevile ca were quoted at 560hp.
No way can the GTR post such a lap time. This is probably a GTR with racing tires because it isnt faster than the Carrera GT. Maybe a GT500 GTR can post such a time but not a stock one.
This time was set on a totally standard car, just like a customer will get. For us 'Time Attack' must be repeatable in a customer car. No special brake pads or cut-slick tyres - everything was standard GTR.'
The time, set on April 8th, was achieved on the Dunlop SP Sport 600 DSST tyre that is standard on the basic GTR (i.e. non Premium or 'Black' spec, which both have Bridgestone RE070R tyres). The Dunlop is a little noisier and not quite as good in the wet as the RE070R, but in the dry it's worth 4-5 seconds around the 'Ring.
i think people are forgetting something here, this is a base model GTR, the driver says he expects the v-spec to go 10 seconds faster again, for anyone with their times sheet in front on u, that is fucking fast, faster than anything other road car (not including those radical kit car things lol) by at least 5 seconds.
now this is a car that weighs between 400-500kg more than its closest opponents and between 100-200hp less power.
that is fucking astonishing how ever u look at it.

ralmone u are an idiot!! the GTR has more than 480HP, Nissan always BEEN down playing their HP dummy, check the dyno test. The GTR that ran 7:29 is the Euro Nissan...US and Euro has different suspension than the J-Spec Models, they also has a higher boost than the J-Spec Version. The same driver that ran 7:38, also the same driver that got 7:29, and its not a MODD GTR dummy, and NO its not a V-Spec Model either. The V-Spec is a 2 seater, -330lbs, 7 gears, extra 80-100HP+, this is a 4 seater..

There is no motorsport where a car is timed from a standstill in a qualifying round except drag racing. Same goes for public track times. Plus considering the short straight where the starting line is the car would lose about 1-3sec so it would still put the overpriced ZR1 to shame.

the nissan gt-r is a great car but i think this video is false though. nissan admitted the suspension was redone on this car to reflect the european and american models, and the car starts off on a running start where normal times are recorded when the car starts at a standstill. nissan has been caught fudging results in the past so i wouldnt be surprised at all if this wasnt the production car, the stats given by nissan although it is a handling car i believe it lacks power to make that time

i highly doubt the zr-1 will even post times close to the new gt-rs lap time. im expecting 736 or 737 out of the zr-1. maybe 735. but its not going to have anything on the base GT-R.

One interesting point I should mentioned is that the way the GTR drives and you'll notice this from the Best motoring test and the video in shown here. The steering movement is full of corrections, I'm not sure why but I suspect probably because the computer reacted to the driver's input and make the car more turnable and thus the driver's steering angle has to be reduced.
Seems not natural to me, Porsche is more natural. nevetheless, the machine is fast

hate it or love it those are impressive numbers that demand respect. so far all the third party testers that have been behind the wheel of the gt-r dont seem to argue with what nissan claims. the gt-r has shown the 911 and z06 its tail lights in more than more magazine test. only time will tell if its as good as they say. nissan is either the biggest lier in the world (which would have been confirmed on the first test) or they just bitch slapped the entire automotive world...

just did a side by side video, of it and the Zonda, it was a head of the Zonda more then 6 minutes of the lap, but at around 6:05-10ish the Zonda pulled a head, the strait line performance of the Zonda pulled through for it

All official times are timed using standing starts. Rolling starts are unofficial. BTW, the GT-R was using slick tires, so they have yet to prove that they are faster than the 911 Turbo on the Ring while going bone stock.

the zr1 is a fucking modded z06. the gt-r is a whole new series... just like the r34, if the company modded some gt-r's that would be amazing some people got to over 1001 hp wwith tuning. thats around 800 horses faster. add 800 to a stock gt-r and that would almost be 1300 horses.. but i doubht 800 horses would fit.. lol

GEARING,the GTR's first 4 gears are considerably shorter than that of the competition.meaning it's easier for the engine to gain momemtum(especially thru, and out of the corners),the dual clutch helps alot since the turbo psi never falls under full load between gears, aerodynamics (it creates enough downforce at hihger speeds),and lastly weight balance,because the gearbox sits on the rear axle the weight is always 'neutral',making it easier to handle while turning

This time was set on a totally standard car, just like a customer will get. For us 'Time Attack' must be repeatable in a customer car. No special brake pads or cut-slick tyres - everything was standard GTR.'

The time, set on April 8th, was achieved on the Dunlop SP Sport 600 DSST tyre that is standard on the basic GTR (i.e. non Premium or 'Black' spec, which both have Bridgestone RE070R tyres). The Dunlop is a little noisier and not quite as good in the wet as the RE070R, but in the dry it's worth 4-5 seconds around the 'Ring.

i think people are forgetting something here, this is a base model GTR, the driver says he expects the v-spec to go 10 seconds faster again, for anyone with their times sheet in front on u, that is fucking fast, faster than anything other road car (not including those radical kit car things lol) by at least 5 seconds.
now this is a car that weighs between 400-500kg more than its closest opponents and between 100-200hp less power.
that is fucking astonishing how ever u look at it.
