No sane person who has witnessed war firsthand loves it, least of all soldiers. Yet sometimes, the alternative to war is one's annihilation. Appeasement was tried with Hitler; diplomacy with Saddam; the world attempted to ignore bin Laden. These things were tried and they failed. Today, American soldiers fight an enemy who has vowed to destroy not just our country but all who do not think like them. They fight, are wounded and die so we can live. Let us never forget them.
