  • Excuse me, All of you, but Anna Paquin, Cloris Leachman, and the young man who played Pazu's voice are all professional actors, with years of experience, Now I know all of you have opinions of paquins performance, But I for one heard no flaws in her speach, But of coarse I wasn't looking for it either,

The Music was Excellent ALL Though the movie, The dubbed I saw first, and prefer it to subtitled version.

  • @HunterR909 It's nice that you like the Disney dub, but there's no need to be so upset with most of us here. We mostly agree with you. It's just that what some people may perceive as flawless others may see as a slight issue. None of us here are saying the dub is bad at all (well, except for that one guy below us).

  • Showed Laputa: Castle in the Sky to my dad, today. I think he must've been more impressed with this film than the Avatar movie - and that's awesome! ^_^

  • Only one word for all the lovers of Laputa, one word for all the ones who love Hisaishi-san

    Beautiful

  • For a second there when I read it, I thought it said legend of Zelda! I'm to nerdy for my own good. But I liked the music!

  • @imalinkfan3 oh, so i'm not the only one! XD (is huge Zelda geek.)

  • Aww, I was hoping that part with the piano in this was gonna be one track. The beginning ruins it for me D:

  • HIT THE BRAKE!!!

  • Wha?! Sorry, but that comment was uncalled for.

  • This is my favorite track! with my favorite scene from the movie! mainly 1:33 and on

  • If you think the voice cast in this movie is among the worst, then I really don't know what on earth you are thinking. There are LOADS of dubs that are far worse than this one and ANY of the others Disney has done. Streamline's dub was awful, but Disney's version was much better overall. Not perfect, but still quite good. Hamill and Leachman were both perfect as were the rest of the supporting characters. The leads were a bit too old, but they still did OK IMO. Hardly anything to sneeze at.

  • @Turnajon I agree, I really liked the Disney dub. I felt that it successfully added humor without weighing down the dialog. I also appreciate the decision to replace all of the synthesized music with full orchestral versions of Hisaishi's original melodies. I know that the leads sounded a tad bit to old, but Pazu's Japanese voice actor's high and squeaky voice really wore down my nerves. So yes, the dub changed a lot of things, but that doesn't mean that it's worse.

  • @theJMBgamer Absolutely. Too many times I hear different being equated with bad, but I think that's an overrated argument in any way. To me, there's nothing wrong with enjoying this dub, especially when there's lots to appreciate about it--the new score, the entertaining dialogue, Mark and Cloris's performances, etc., the list goes on and on. Don't get me wrong, I like the Japanese version, too, but every time I watch this movie, I often hear it in Disney's dub because it's so much fun.

  • @theJMBgamer I liked the dub, especially Mark Hamill's voice acting: He's brilliant! But the one thing I hated was that they changed the music. While some parts sounded good, others parts made changes which made the actual score seem odd and out of place.

  • @kingt34 Well if it makes you feel any better the 2010 DVD release of LAPUTA has the original soundtrack in place. Hamill's performance and the rest of the cast are the same, but the new score isn't there.

Personally, I think the new score is pretty terrific, but to each their own.

  • @Turnajon It's not that the new score wasn't BAD, it's just I remember one change they made which actually really ticked me off :S When Sheeta and Pazu arrive at the island and arrive at the memorial, the music before was slow and beautiful. But for some reason half way through the music becomes very dramatic and unusual :S Other than that though the music is good :)

  • @kingt34 Well, on the 2010 DVD, the score in that scene is the same as the original.

Otherwise I'm at least glad you like the dub because I feel it's the most underrated of the Disney-Ghibli dubs. Purists love to say how it's "unlistenable" and "atrocious", but I've always believed otherwise. Thank god I'm not alone in thinking that.

  • @kingt34 I didn't pay that much attention, but i remember the one song that i actually preferred with the American score was when Pazu was playing his trumpet. They added in some guitar and it sounded really nice. Even if it made you wonder where it was coming from

  • @theJMBgamer I have to agree. Additionally, I absolutely loved Cloris Leachman as Dola. My only complaint would have to be Anna Paquin, since she sometimes threw in an accent and other times it wasn't there. XD

  • @ErikaOfTheWolves Yeah Paquin's accent COULD be a little shaky in places, but on the whole I thought she did a solid job, and actually I can partially explain why that happened; she was born in Canada and grew up in New Zealand, so she probably was in a bit of a mixed up phase at the time she recorded the role. Even so, I'm willing to cut her slack, especially since there's so much to love about the dub.

  • @theJMBgamer Oh! Oh! Did you know that the lady who did Pazu's original voice did Luffy's original voice?

  • The music is amazing, the plot is great, the characters are lovable... but they seem to have made an effort to find the worst voice cast in the history of dubs!!!

  • LOL Sheeta fell on top of Pazu. XD

  • How do you call a picture of a floating city a lie if it looks real and was taken before digital enhancement came into existence? I don't get that... >_>

  • great music
