dont know what brought me here to listen to this today, you know how that goes when you youtube surf, but I was there when he sang it live. Only a person whom calls Hawaii home can sing that song with that kind of emotion. "haole" or not, he was "at home" singing that song and thats what made it so epic. Eddie Gets it. And although I respect him for his art, and have for many years I respect him for this the most.
opinions, we all have opinions. I know i have a lot of them. but how can 8 people dislike this. these guys in this performance is giving respect to Brother Iz, to Hawaii and to Hawaiians. If Iz was alive I belive he would be proud. Hawai'i No Ka Oi

Listen to the lyrics. He only repeats the chorus, and and a couple of other lines.
Out of respect, he doesn't sing the lines that reference "our people" or "our land"
The "stupid haole" who plays keyboard for Pearl Jam isn't. He's a local named named Boom Gaspar, who Eddie met while surfing. Eddie loves Hawaii.
This is Respect.
