Close call man. The Galaxy Nexus, despite having a 5MP Camera really give the 4S a match of it. But the 4S has better color saturation and sharper image, making it look more crisp and real.
I think the nexus wins here. The colors are mor true while the 4S's white balance is through the roof. Also the sounds quality of the nexus is better.

The new lens on the 4S allows the camera to pick up more lighting, which makes it better looking. The picture is also a little sharper. But I can't see why there is so much hate in the Nexus camera? it's actually pretty good! And the microphone is better than on the 4S.

@John133465 really bro?they both have a 1Ghz dual core processor which also powers the GPU, but the difference is apple underclocks theirs to 800Mhz. on the galaxy nexus its possible to over clock to a stable 1.2Ghz running 40% faster than iphones gpu. and also the Galaxy Nexus has an AMOLED screen that uses over 30% less power, has a higher contrast, and is brighter. also a less chance of breaking. and the screen is bigger. thats why i choose it for gaming. the ipad2 and 4s have same cpu chipA5

As far as your cpu/gpu comment goes, you obviously don't know much about hardware. Just because its clocked faster doesn't mean it is faster. For example an i7 clocked at 1.3ghz versus an i3 clocked at 2.1ghz. The i7 will blow away the i3. As far as screen goes, the retina is brighter. More pixel density.
@1992lolwut ugn to start off the pixel density is not noticeable by the human eye. 14ppi is nothing. if you want me to put cpu/gpu in more depth the galaxy nexus has an ARM Cortex A9 Ti OMAP 4k series. able of over 1.26 Ghz 5.6 GT/s and 13 gigaflops of power. the apple A5 processor uses the old ARM v7 cortex Architecture which is about to be out dated with the tegra 3 series coming out. and its maximum capability before apple underclocks it is 1.05 GHz 4.8 GT/s and 10 gigaflops.

Not to mention the gpu that is powering prime is from 2007. I think you have your facts twisted. The processor and gpu powering the prime is the one thats outdated. Also the gpu found in gs2 is faster then the prime.

@FearInTheDeep about the part about playing games, on either the 4s/4 the visuals of the games are so much clearer and crisper. The Retina screen really excels because it has, at optimal viewing distance, even more pixels than your eye can see. When comparing iPhone and Android, I choose iPhone because you know what you're getting. With Android, the cool features one phone has aren't on another, some can't upgrade to the newest firmware. The vast chose can be difficult and frustrating to some.

4S is barely, as in less than 1%, better than the Nexus in pixel density (326/in vs 316/in).
My roommates both have a 4S and I have a Galaxy Nexus. It's unanimous that the Nexus screen is better in every aspect that the eye can tell a difference (darker blacks, brighter whites and far better resolution). Nexus is also a Google phone and gets updates as they are released...No carrier interruption.
iPhone video looks like too fuzzy and blur. I guess apple uses "LG camera modules"? LG components suck! Apple should not use LG display panel and camera module. Apple should use Samsung AMOLED screen and Samsung Camera module in order to beat Galaxy Nexus. C'mon Apple.
@SuperDogedog You have no eye for visuals. the iPhone video is "darker" but that is the actually brightness of the scenes. the only reason the Galaxy Nexus' video is "brighter is because the color correction is not as good and blows out the image, by making neutrals greys white. Also the only blur and "fuzz" on the iPhone are the parts that are deliberately out of focus, the iPhone has a greater depth of field that makes more things out of focus.

The iPhone seemed better in some types of low lighting due to its better light sensor. The Nexus seemed to do very well, altho it seemed to adjust it's exposure a little too much to compensate. Good comparison video!
iPhone 4S beat the Galaxy Nexus. The iPhone 4S has 1080p recording and the only Galaxy Nexus is obsolete with a 720p...and I really wonder why Google did that
I really wanted the nexus, I still think I may order it, but the camera is really disappointing, I don't use phone cameras THAT much but often enough to possibly be a deal breaker :(
I'm listening through Beyerdynamic DT250 studio headphones.
Both have fine microphones. I think the Nexus emphasises the low and high frequencies and has occasional and slight sibilance, - not so on the 4s (and I agree with lebricify on that one). You can make adjustments to either, post export via a DAW.
To me these videos demonstrate that each phone edges the other in different areas but does NOT put the other to shame. Damn this 500 char. limit.
iPhone 4S vs Galaxy Nexus? Clearly the iPhone 4S is much better, the colors are much more natural,,, if you look at the drum scene from 2:03 you can see that the Galaxy Nexus recording is more bright and if you look at the white car at 2:06 you almost can´t see what car it is and you can´t see the license number... So... iPhone 4S wins this, easy.
Both had strengths, but the Nexus never had any instances where it looked spot on. A few of the scenes looked spot on with the iPhone...I hate iPhones.

iPhone did better in low light and artificial light while the nexus was better in good lighting. Nexus had a lot better exposure especially on the drummer clip. Audio on both is alright galaxy s 2 beats both in terms of audio and video quality
The quality of each phone seems to vary between environments. That makes me think that the differences are mostly due to the light settings on each phone, stuff that can be easily fiddled with by the user, depending on the environment. But one consistent difference I'm noticing is that the Galaxy Nexus has better contrast. Darker darks, redder reds, ect. But again, the settings on the device can effect this. So it's still hard to say.
As a photog/video guy, iPhone seems much better, But audio on both is questionable which is expected. Frame rate is smoother and colors are more accurate with iPhone.

In my opinion, the iPhone 4S is a lot better then the Galaxy Nexus. The sound of the Galaxy Nexus sounds a lot more "hallow" then the 4S. The amount of light that is going to the lenses are clearly shown on the 4S. There is also more clarity on the 4S then on the Nexus. No wonder the iPhone 4S was rated the best smartphone for taking photos/videos,
iPhone 4s is better in my opinion. And i kind of feel that the Nexus is not on pair with the Galaxy S2 in camera qualities, which seems weird to me, it is supposed to be the newest and better phone. Another reason to take into account that the release date doesnt makes a phone better than the previous ones, at least not in certain specs.
There is no excuse for the poor performance of the Galaxy Nexus. Samsung KNOWS how to put high quality cameras in their phones- look at the Galaxy S2! Why Samsung would consciously put a sub par camera in a flagship phone is totally beyond me.
I can clearly see that iPhone4S allows more light which makes the color of the video more vibrant. And those cameras are both 1080p so iPhone4S definitely wins this section.
Sony did a good job with their camera. However do note that there are setting for the cameras in android so the setting that Jon set would affect the color reproduction

The iPhone seemed better in some types of low lighting due to its better light sensor. The Nexus seemed to do very well, altho it seemed to adjust it's exposure a little too much to compensate. Good comparison video!

I'm listening through Beyerdynamic DT250 studio headphones.
Both have fine microphones. I think the Nexus emphasises the low and high frequencies and has occasional and slight sibilance, - not so on the 4s (and I agree with lebricify on that one). You can make adjustments to either, post export via a DAW.
To me these videos demonstrate that each phone edges the other in different areas but does NOT put the other to shame. Damn this 500 char. limit.
Conclusion - Galaxy Nexus AND iPhone 4s FTW.

Clearly the iPhone 4S is much better, the colors are much more natural,,, if you look at the drum scene from 2:03 you can see that the Galaxy Nexus recording is more bright and if you look at the white car at 2:06 you almost can´t see what car it is and you can´t see the license number... So... iPhone 4S wins this, easy.

Browsing goes smoother on they 4S. Video Exporting go's much faster on they iPhone.
And much apps will run better/smoother/faster on they iphone 4s just because it will be optimized for that.

@ConvenientCow Ha, that can't be so. The sound quality is much more balanced in iPhone 4S, image stabilization is better on iPhone 4S, white balance is better on iPhone 4S. And it's a fact that iPhone's camera is now better than Galaxy S2 and Galaxy Nexus. Don't state cheap comments like that, no one in the right mind will do racist comparison.

iPhone did better in low light and artificial light while the nexus was better in good lighting. Nexus had a lot better exposure especially on the drummer clip. Audio on both is alright galaxy s 2 beats both in terms of audio and video quality

The quality of each phone seems to vary between environments. That makes me think that the differences are mostly due to the light settings on each phone, stuff that can be easily fiddled with by the user, depending on the environment. But one consistent difference I'm noticing is that the Galaxy Nexus has better contrast. Darker darks, redder reds, ect. But again, the settings on the device can effect this. So it's still hard to say.

As a photog/video guy, iPhone seems much better, But audio on both is questionable which is expected. Frame rate is smoother and colors are more accurate with iPhone.

In my opinion, the iPhone 4S is a lot better then the Galaxy Nexus. The sound of the Galaxy Nexus sounds a lot more "hallow" then the 4S. The amount of light that is going to the lenses are clearly shown on the 4S. There is also more clarity on the 4S then on the Nexus. No wonder the iPhone 4S was rated the best smartphone for taking photos/videos,

iPhone 4s is better in my opinion. And i kind of feel that the Nexus is not on pair with the Galaxy S2 in camera qualities, which seems weird to me, it is supposed to be the newest and better phone. Another reason to take into account that the release date doesnt makes a phone better than the previous ones, at least not in certain specs.

Sony did a good job with their camera. However do note that there are setting for the cameras in android so the setting that Jon set would affect the color reproduction
