I have a question...I guess I didn't adjust the brake adjusterr far enough so that there was enough drag? If I didn't adjust the brake adjuster far enough apart could one of the little pistons in the brake cylinder pop out and leak brake fluid everywhere? Even if that's not how that happens 1 side of my cylinder shot out, do I need to completely replace it now? It was brand new
So how long would you expect replacing the brake pads to take for a beginner? I've done disc brake pads before but never drum. Can you believe my mate was just quoted $500 to replace the rear brake pads on a 1991 ford laser thats only done 70,000km!
I'm gonna take the hub off and check remaining meat on the pads in the next couple of days and maybe replace them..
Bit of advice from some1 who just fucked with these satan creations...after you get them put back together make ABSOLUTE sure you adjust the brake adjustors until there is a solid drag, if you don't the piston in the brake cylinder will pop out making you have to take everything out and bleed the air out of brake line. Fuck brake drums

What about checking the rotor for warpage, rotor thickness and drum diameter? This could cause grabbing. Also, the wheel cylinders in the back should be checked by pulling the dust cap to make sure there is no fluid leakage underneath.
Correct, although the DIY'ers for which this video was inteded for won't typically have a dial indicator or a micrometer set to check for this. Which is the reason it wasn't covered in the video. If using a floorjack, break the lug nuts loose with the vehicle's weight on the ground before lifting.
On the back wheels these is serviceable bearings under that dust cap. On the front the bearings are a sealed hub unit which is not serviceable. On this car its Front wheel drive and on all front wheel drive the Drive Axle goes though the wheel bearing and it slides into a splines that the bearing hub has. The large nut on the front keeps the axle in place. On Rear wheel drive cars. There is no dust caps on the rear. The bearing are inside the axle. On the front they have serviceable bearings.
those are some fucking clean ass drums. Fuck! LOL.
