@altermann555 Yes, actually. God Save the Queen's was written in 1745 and Prussia copied it to themselves as this version. When Prussia was succeeded by German Empire in 1871 they kept the anthem, but it never became popular and some states even refused to recognize its official status.

Übrigens war das nie die deutsche Nationalhymne. Das deutsche Kaiserreich hatte keine offizielle Nationalhymne. Es wurde mal anfangs darüber abgestimmt ob es das Deutschlandlied sein soll, was aber von Bismarck abgelehnt wurde. Dieses Lied hier war die Hymne des Kaisers.

@altermann555 Yes, actually. God Save the Queen's was written in 1745 and Prussia copied it to themselves as this version. When Prussia was succeeded by German Empire in 1871 they kept the anthem, but it never became popular and some states even refused to recognize its official status.

Übrigens war das nie die deutsche Nationalhymne. Das deutsche Kaiserreich hatte keine offizielle Nationalhymne. Es wurde mal anfangs darüber abgestimmt ob es das Deutschlandlied sein soll, was aber von Bismarck abgelehnt wurde. Dieses Lied hier war die Hymne des Kaisers.

The constant and childish bickering between the English and Germans is more than ridiculous, we are practically the same ethnicity, we share a similar culture and heritage and importantly the average 'Tommy' and 'Jerry' knew not what they fought for during World War One or Two. The football matches in the former conflict between the two are a testament to the fact that there was little hatred felt.
