The problem at the moment is innovation and technology improvement needs to catch up. Lab technology promises a 60% or higher solar photovoltaics in the future. At the moment solar and wind depend on heavy subsidies. As far green buildings are concerned, we are only scratching the surface. I had visited a Tokyo lab where an experimental building was using all of its outer skin to absorb solar energy; natural light and aromas released into the working environment for productivity increase.
