Hampf said "A famous socialist said ' a poet is the engineer of the human soul'" The socialist in question is Stalin, and it is interesting that he avoided using Stalin's name, but every east german in the audience would get a very clear understanding of his personality in that one line.
I like how people from "West" always think, that people in the East were living on the trees during communism. My friends had to persuade part of their family in USA, that we really had tap water and flushing toilet too. And when my friend was in Holland and lived at the local family, she had to explain that she really knows bath shower. Oh yeah, my Londonfriend, communists, but still we were little bit civilized:-)
