  • great song and remember when it came out!!!

    Great times they were!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • saw him recently and loved him..

  • I know this old song very well and am astonished that someone could find an interpretation of it that could characterize it as "sexist." Where? "the way you smile, the way you hold my hand... things you whisper in my ear"... etc. Don't men whisper in women's ears, hold women's hands, smile? Don't same-sex couples do the same with each other? Where is the sexism or male chauvinism in this innocent (and well crafted) bit of pop music?

  • Aaargh the sixties, when women did all the jumping around and work and men just sat there passing a few arrogant comments about women and themselves. Little things. How times have not changed - except that they have! Women get paid a bit. This is the worst of opportunist sexism as to what was actually happening in the sixties, musically and politically and everything. Oblivious piffle.

  • @NETSY296 a writer ? based on the content of your comment here , of pretentious twaddle it seems

  • @1900JME1959 Why are you insulting me as a person you do not even know, (let alone my writing, not having read any of my work)? My comment was a general comment on this song and video in the context of other comments and my memory of the song when it was released. Your comment is not. You are a bad YouTube user. Get a life. PS If you are truly interested in Big Band music, you'd know of my aunt, the vocalist, Doreen Villiers. She doesn't think much of your totally unwarranted insults either.

  • @NETSY296 Are you saying you drag your aunt into every argument you have with people on youtube becuase I`m not the first am I ? You always get into arguments with people here and end up calling other people names . If you want me to quote examples of your comments to your aunt let me know. Your memory of this song triggered the sexism comment ? If you are 53 then in early 1965 when this song was a hit you were either 7 or 8 so I`m guessing back then you were happily singing along to it....

  • @1900JME1959 Naturally, you are now blocked from sending me any further personal messages - and I doubt that I am the only person you have picked on, so beware others who read this. Goodbye, nasty twerp. Hoorah!

  • @NETSY296 LOL ! But I didnt send you a message !! I think you`ll find that when someone leaves a response to a comment , youtube send a message to the person who wrote the original message to tell them there`s been a reply. I thought you`d know that !! In any event people only need to read your original pretentious comment - referring to Dave`s sixties pop hit ditty Little Things as "the worst case of opportunist sexism ..." to realise who`s lost the plot here ! ps sticks and stones...

  • The original (imagine - a remake of an American song by someone from the UK) was quite good (by Bobby Goldsboro) and was quite a bit hit in the US and Canada...

  • Hendon 1965. You are right about a recording studio. There was RAK Records in St John's Wood. I worked in a garage in late 70's and dealt with Mickey Most and his receptionist

  • i grew up in the sixties music and the clithes were brill

  • He was just so different. I always thought he'd make a good Dracula. This was my favourite song of his.

  • When I had my very first job in 1965, working in a small bank in St John's Wood,London, NW8.... Dave was one of our regular customers. I guess he must have been recording nearby. Always happy to have a quick chat and sign records etc ... Delighted to hear this one again on the Telly advert with the dogs !

  • Always an artist was dave, enjoyed your music.

  • love this!

  • I was a member of Dave`s backing band in 1979/80 Mr Grundy, or Mr Berry was a great guy to be around. He gave us his best of album and told us he would be back in a couple of weeks..

We had a great time touring with Dave and It was a privalage to be part of the music industry for a fleeting moment about a year for my part as the bass guitarist. I keep trying to see his gig at the Rockingham Arms in Wentworth but I never have managed to get a ticket.

Dave will not retire, how could he

  • ¡great Dave Berry! :)

  • Now, when I see his eyes again, I remeber why I was in love with him.... at the age of 5!

  • I like the girls. And the white girls go "wooo, woooo, aaaah, aaaaaah". I hear them coming now.

  • @rolandrog - fyi - those "girls" are the Blossoms - the one in the middle is the great Miss Darlene Love.

  • F Y I - Those "girls are THE BLOSSOMS - The great MISS DARLENE LOVE is the one in the middle

  • @unclebillmusic Wow, I didn't know Darlene sang with The Blossoms! Tanks.

  • I have one 45rpm by The Blossoms tittled "Son - In - Law".It's kind of a answer to

Ernie k. Doe's "Mother In Law", I rate it 3 and a half stars. It's on you tube -enjoy !

  • music was so great in the past

even girls used to be nicer

i don't know what happened to our world today

we still look positive to the future

  • @alaanees

yeah the past is always better eh? Like segregation and Vietnam and all that good stuff?

  • You are absolutely right! They were not only nicer, but also much prettier... and I should know because I married one of them! My wife, Wendy, is the grand-daughter of Winifred Grundy and a 2nd cousin of Dave Grundy, who you know as Dave Berry.

  • @alaanees amen

  • wish i could relive the 60s fab times -trouble free now that i understand now its too late !!!

  • Saw him in concert 3 times last week and he still sounds the same! Amazing indeed! And has a great onstage presence - and is a lovely guy too!

  • Wow its Cain from Emmerdale...Great though eh?

  • love it!!

  • can i find this anywhere in piano version if you saw dont look back the bob dylan movie donovan does this song on piano and i like it so much better is there anyplace i can find it?

  • That definitely wasn't Donovan at that part of the film..and I'm pretty sure that the only piano version of that song is in said film. Sorry :(

  • I don't know if you've found this yet, but that's Alan Price doing the playing this in Don't Look Back. I think you can only see it in the movie, which is on here, it's in Part 7... I was looking for that scene too but for a different reason.

  • If I remember correctly, Alan Price did record this with a strong piano-fueled accompaniment. I know it's available, but am unsure what LP it's on of Alan's.

  • very nice......

  • I love it

  • clasic track !

  • Best from Dave Berry.

    Long live the 60's !!!

  • the human sloth

  • First have this song listen in Radio Sweden 1969. I live in Estonia.

  • Nice to see Darlene doing the Nino/April style bah's. It's a great song, but I gotta admit i was disappointed hearing the original by berry. I had first heard Alan price doing it in "Don't Look Back." Price made it sound like it would've been a more rockin' tune. And that was on a piano in a dressing room.

    Still great, though.

  • The original was actually done by the man who wrote it:Ray Stevens. He then passed it to a young singer by the name of Bobby Goldsboro who had a monster hit with it. Dave Berry then recorded it and had a huge European hit with it.

  • A great, catchy song. Never tire of listening to this. Great clip and nice to see the female backing vocalists.

  • What an amazing guy, still going strong in 2008!

  • Sweet echo from somewhere safe.

  • what a classic this is !! Dave Berry was just Great!!! thanx so much !for sharing !! Lyndloo....

  • Great 60s brit pop.

  • saw him live 1965 then the Stones came on.

  • Thank you very much for finding this video. Dave Berry is brilliant and unique. He;s still performing I believe.

  • He is still performing and looks and sounds simply AMAZING!!! =)
