Truxton, cosmic carnage, and vextrex are like running gag recommendations for classic game room. They probably have some real nostalgic value to mark but mentioning them in odd places just seems to annoy people who think mark is being serious when he makes those comparisons like saying cosmic carnage is better than ocarina of time.

@shadowhexogram Well, if you watch his Cosmic Carnage review, he calls it "a bad game" several times. You'd have to be pretty clueless to not understand that he doesn't really reccommend CC that highly, he just thinks it has some cheesy nostalgic value as one of the worst games ever published by SEGA. However, I think that Truxton and Vectrex really are things he would reccommend to retro gamers, kidding aside.

@EkajTheSwordsman I watched his Cosmic Carnage review and from what I got from it is that he liked it but he knew it technically wasn't a good game. It's possible to be somewhat objective when talking about a subject you enjoy I would think it a vital trait for a reviewer. I mean truxton is just another shoot em up and vectrex is a really mediocre console but mark enjoys them so it's fun to play along but really. None of those games are really very good.

@shadowhexogram You're basically right. But I think that Vectrex was good in 1982. Gaming standards were lower then. And Truxton is a good game, just a fairly uninspired and mediocre one. It's not one of the better Genesis SHUMPs, but it's still a 6 or 7 out of 10. Cosmic Carnage is truly horrible even for its time. It's entertaining in the same way as the Power Rangers FMV game for Sega CD. It's so bad; its good. Objectively, it deserves perhaps a 3/10.

Classic Game Room has inspired me to get an Awesome Sega Genesis(model 1 of course). Because of CGR videos I am now enjoying such great titles as Truxton & Thunderforce III for the first time. @XJbLIVEfilmsX Those are obtained by collecting powerups. After you get so many power ups without dying you'll eventually obtain the mini ships on the sides. They are tough to obtain if you are first starting out with this game. With enough practice you'll have no problem obtaining the uber ship.

For £5 ($10 ish) i got a japanese copy of truxton called tatsujin. It works on my PAL megadrive (cuz the previous owner cut the cart so it would fit in one) and it didnt come with a manual, but still got the original box.

I had a lot of fun with this game back when it came out in the arcades. It is one of my favorite shooters from that era and all time actually. Cool music and theme overall. Great "Truxton" score as well there.

I can't decide if the vocals being played is genuinely on the Truxton vinyl, or it was added by Classic Game Room for comical satire. If it's genuine, I don't care for the vocals at all (doesn't mesh with the rest of the instruments), but the rest of the instruments (guitars, and such) sound kick ass.
