Jeff, two things: There is about $30 difference in price between the Colt and the American Tactical 1911 .22. Do you think they about equal in quality? Also, is is normal for ammo form different manufacturers to vary that much in accuracy? I had a disappointing day at the range with my Beretta 92F but a guy told me it might be an ammo issue. Is that right?
As documented in the review, it did not run well with low-velocity target ammo, but did very well with everything else. For an excellent, affordable 22 LR ammo, I recommend the CCI Blazer from luckygunner-dot-com.
I like this gun,I want this gun,but dadburnit! I cant find this gun in South Georgia but one place and they want $500.00 for it, I know it aint worth that much. Anyone have any suggestions?,maybe a place I can get one?.
That is way too high - go to Lipsey's web site (lipseys-dot-com) and click the DEALER FINDER to locate a Lipsey's-affiliated dealer in your area. Or click the GUN GENIE at Davidson's (galleryofguns-dot-com) to buy online.
I do not know, nor do I care to try to keep up with the rat's nest of laws out there. I suggest you check with a California dealer, it's their business to know.
I have one of these except mine is the "rail gun" version. I love it. It's a very fun little plinker and is fairly accurate. It eats any .22lr I have found with no issues. I have well over 2500 rounds though mine with no issues except the typical bulk ammo problems that weren't the gun's fault. One of my favorite range toys!
Just went to the range with my GSG 1911-22... Shot 100+/- rds of LRN cheap ammo... No malfunctions and awesome accuracy... Better than the .22 6" revolver we had out... Added black rubber Kimber grips and i love it even more...
Just wanted to say happy holidays, and I love the longer videos youve been doing this year. Not too long not too short. Perfect! I always watch your playlists when considering a purchase.
Excellent review as usual I've seen this at some guns shops was a little skeptical at 1st, nice shooting! Thank's for all the great video's this year Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
@Gunblastdotcom I believe all the barrels on these Colt/Walther/Umarex 1911-22 pistols are threaded. The wrench you highlight with a photo in your blog entry is used to remove the thread protector. I also believe it then accepts the same thread adapter as the Walther P22 for suppressors and such.
@2024JayZ That's what it looks like, doesn't it. I shoot left because I'm left eye dominant, not because I'm left handed. I think shooting opossite of your eye puts you at a disadvantage.
always loved how theres diffrent music at the begining of every vid. would this be able to be converted into another caliber? does it take down the same way as any other 1911?
"Functioning of the Colt 22 was very good, with all high-velocity ammunition tested running perfectly. Only with low-velocity target ammo did the Colt bobble. That ammo just does not have enough power to reliably cycle the slide. However, with most ammo, even the cheap bulk Federal ammo from Wal-Mart, as well as everything from CCI and Remington that I tried, worked perfectly. The PMC Match ammo worked perfectly also."
Nice pistol,Very nice shooting!

Yes, accuracy is very dependent upon the ammo used.
They are pretty much the same, but I would pay extra for the Colt name.

Anyone know of any after market sights that will fit this? I took it to a gunsmith who said the front sight specs aren't standard.
