  • Both cars are great for individual reasons.

    The BMW is 21 years old and still a performer, that's excellent engineering. They still look good too (not so much the one is this video). but it wont compete with a wrx in the bends (i know i own one), its not bad just not as good as a wrx.

    The wrx is great because it was a cheap car when it came out and it preforms. The BMW was very expensive when it was new. The wrx is a modern day escort, big performance at a good price. both cars rule.

  • And lets not forget that they were built for two very different purposes... The wrx is essentially Subaru's shopping car with hyped up engeneering. its a rally car through and through. Every thing is light and durable.

    The BMW is a auto-bahn stormer. Its capable of being comfortable while maintaining high speeds. It has electric leather seats and quality plastics. its built for those long journeys with a bit of track use.

    The wrx is for track use with a bit of shopping.

  • wrong,they come with small turbo's,uk turbo comes with a td04,which is about same size as a fiesta rs turbo unit.wrx has a td05 is bigger but still what wouldnt call a big turbo.you ever owned/driven an impreza??

  • Actually the impreza runs a relatively small turbo, early ones runs mitsubishi TD04s and the later ones run TD05s which arent that big in comparison to most

  • Not theory of mine! This is the way OEM´s are rethinking engines to go for more efficiency, economy less expensive engines, w/o power decrease, theses arg are the reason for a turbo. Talking about stock engines. Get informed ;)

  • I have a volvo 760 v6 170 bhp, my friends imprzza can obvioudly beat it in a drag from 0 to whatever, although i can beat him when accelerating from 30 to 60 mph; which in the 760 is just 3 seconds

  • scoobys are crap, turbo kicks in at 3,000 on mine, when the fucking tappets arent rattling. seats are uncomfortable, interior plastics are wank, ride is uncomfortable, and it gets pissed on by almost every other average chav in his/her Saxo/106. in response, it is infact Subarus that are crap. And, just to ensure no illusions, mine is heading for a well known online auction site this week.

  • u must have a very shit impreza then as i have a 1.8 hx and it is very comfy and actually very quick for a 1.8 and canes saxos so dnt no what u have bought lmao

  • plus i raced a bmw very very simular to that and i was i a rover 200 vi and i kept up with it no problems and it deff wasnt standard.

  • That subaru has got a 600bhp there running stock suspension unstead of the john cooper works suspension and they've gone for the slick michelin types with triple spliter system of the 330ci coupe trust me im a bmw mechanic

  • 600bhp.. yeah right.. If that subaru had 600 bhp it would decimate that e28m5.. Its has only got about 290 - 300bhp MAX. You would know that the e28m5 would never be able to keep up with at 600horsepower car if you were a bmw mechanic.

  • yh but its still only 2.0 liters turbo or no turbo charger and also the bmw wont have a thing called turbo lag plus a turbo on an impreza dnt kick in till 4000rpm. bmws are crap lol hate them

  • the 2.0litre is turbo, you can't compare output per litre with NA engine. not everybody can create a lot of HP from a NA engine

  • that 1980s M5 has 286horses from 3.5L NA engine under the bonnet, not bad even today, let alone that time..and i think the latest evos and stis have around 286hp as well

  • Wow, it was pretty close. I thought the Subaru was going to tricked up and leave the M5 dead. Not so. If I had to choose between these two, I'd take the M5. Looks better, sounds better, nicer to drive and at least it's rare, unlike Subaru/Mitsubishi - they're getting ever so common nowadays.

  • God I love the sound of that M5! No Subaru will ever sound, or look as good as this car. Who cares if it can-out-accelerate it? Big surprise. The E28 M5 is one of the original ultimate sports sedans, and that alone makes it very special (especially considering it's rarity).
