You'd think the French would "get" Pink Floyd--not clap as if to bubblegum pop. Now when I was growing up in the midwest in the early 80's, you often heard The Wall and Dark Side of the Moon on the radio, but never this 60's-with-Syd material. I mean NEVER. I didn't know it existed. In those days before recent advances in info tech, info about bands other than The Beatles wasn't readily available if you lived in Podunk, Michigan. And an album like A Saucer was hard to find.

I am watching this video with my French girlfriend and she's embarrassed by her fellow French clapping hands at Pink Floyd. I find it quite amusing actually, very surreal, it seems they are not paying any attention to the music at all.

By the way, playing the bass has NOTHING to do with your height. It is stupid to think that only tall people play the bass, I'm a professional bassist, and I don't think that height plays any role in bass playing.

It seems that most taller people play the bass with Flea being the exception. I play bass as well as guitar, but am only 5 foot 9.

Yeah--I mean I'm what, 5'4 at most (I don't know) and I've played guitar for a bit, and I got a bass a short while ago, and I have to lean a bit to reach the farthest tuning peg. I think that being tall means you can also reach the end of the neck with no problems, and you also don't get dwarfed by the thing!

On the original recording of RAD (that they're miming to), Syd Barrett played the guitar, so Dave didn't have a clue as to the parts to fake, and in the studio Nick surrendered his drumsticks to producer Norman Smith - Nick had no idea what to do either! Again, the Floyd were horrible at faking it, so much so Dave didn't start to pretend to sing on the last song at all. Then they all got a good laugh at it too!
