How many tries did it take you to get that outcome? I'm at about 200 (no exaggeration) on the PSX version and still have never destroyed the colony

I think it took me around 30-50 tries.

However, I've heard that the variable which dictates the outcome is only changed when you play the stages, not anywhere else (on the PSX version). I think PC is a bit different in this regard, but you should enter the stages and do some stuff between tries to make the variable change to a more favorable one.

It seems to be entirely random, but the chances seem to go up if 1) the time goes down (meaning closer to earth), or 2) you have more parts.

That may look nasty, but it's the only way to raise boss levels enough, since the virus levels won't level you enough so you could start getting items from bosses right away (which is part of the 100% requirements). This way I can save, too, which comes in handy since the shuttle doesn't work every single time.

It should. You're pretty unlucky if you didn't get that in the first 50-75 tries, though. One shuttle part takes the success rate to around 50%, so don't sweat it.

Clearly it is you who lacks knowlegde in this issue. To an educated viewer it should be obvious that you need to raise boss levels to get parts from the bosses. The fastest way to do that is to get game overs. The rest will be acquired from the virus stages, so I only suicide the bare minimum that is necessary to get parts later.

I beat this game yesterday, I got the true Good ending, it was awesome. Also, I beat Eurasia colony on the first enigma shot. So I really didnt have to face the other Mavericks (just did Dizzy for the time stop ability.) Also I just cheaped out the whole Zero Vs X fight Lol Just hit him with Charged buster, went close he attacked, shoot, repeat. (=
