He changed the plane of focus in the 3 jars picture but only showed the "No tilt" and "Tilt applied" images. If there is someone out there who really saw him doing it please let me know. It seems that choirboy830 was the only one paying attention. Cheers.
Yes a ultra wide lens cant get that DOF because it´s a WIDE lens. Get a Tele and you will get your low DOP, you don't get the tilt shift abillity though.
@KakaffStudios Please listen to what he said carefully. He said with the Tilt you can blur the scene in a way that even an ULTRA WIDE APERTURE lens cannot. You're talking about ultra wide lens which has nothing to do with what he's talking about.
@KakaffStudios You're just being argumentative now. You know exactly what he meant by "ultra wide aperture lens"... but in case you don't, it's just his way of saying "lens with ultra wide aperture".
"Now for my third demonstration, i will roundhouse kick the smuckers jar and photograph the bits of it in the air whilst controlling the plain of focus"
For one photo that is fine but if you want a multitude of photos then you need a lens. You sometimes need to combine up to 3000-8000 photos to give you the effects of a movie. Check out the Keith Loutit's "Northwind Blew South" use of tilt-shift exposure combined with time lapsed photography techniques that makes the full use of a TS lens. The author spent up to several months composing some of his other projects
Check out "PhotoGavin" if you want example of PS single pic
Nice explanation and great demonstration of the t/s lens and its ability. Though I would have liked to have seen a little more technique behind the shift/tilt knobs. Thank you for your video.
I wanted a super wide angle lens like a 14mm, but I wanted more. The abillity to control perspective. Then along came the 17mm TSE lens. I'm in love with this lens and it is amazing. The panoramics I can achieve with the shift function blows a 14mm out of the water!
Most people just tilt the lens or apply some random blur line into the photos to get a miniature effect. What is cool is when someone has put some effort into the post work to really make it look strange. Sometimes changing the range of colors is enough.
Mr. Photographer, you should be a model...

The guy is freaking HOT!!! I have watched the video 10 times and still don't know a thing about tilt shift photography.
juniatamc 3 months ago
@juniatamc I second that... He needs to put a brown paper bag over his head in order for me to focus... I can't retain a thing hes saying...

He said "Ultra wide APERTURE lens".
PT111111 9 months ago
@PT111111 All lenses have a apperture value.... And they don't just have one apperture either, it's changeable.
Please go and look up what apperture means.
