To stop either walk along and reach in for the throttle or attach a long bar to it. You can put full RC in them, too.

Bass, you can use valves like a goodall alve that let you add fuel and water with a total shut down and cool off.

I have always wondered how do you stop the locomotive to refuel and fill the tender with water again. Do you let it go till it runs out of fuel or do you have to be quick and shut the throttle off as it is passing? Or do you have a wireless controller that can be utilized?
