Like ohspareme, my mom used to play this all the time when i was 8 and it has stayed with me all these years.Good music stays with you no matter what the age, but especially when you're growing up. How i wish "Sil Austin Plays Pretty For The People" would be released track for track on a well executed CD, i would rip it to pc,copy it,and put the original in a safe. A master at work.

I melt !......that's all I can say ! You just can't do Stardust like sil as the previous commenter says he takes me back sweet years gone by, for me... It brings the tears to my eyes,... someone tell me when and how he passed, I'm 62 and I just don't know.
@Joyannnn - He died of prostate cancer in 2001, and is survived by his wife of 52 years, the Rev. Vernice Austin, two daughters, nine grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Sorry, I checked out Scott Hamilton's version, he is ok, but can't compare to Sil Austiins version, Sil Austin puts more feeling and depth into the music. It just has more soul, there is just no comparison, but then everyone has their own taste
One of the sweetest sounding saxes of all time. This guy could really get to me. What a sound. I've got a vinyl of his with this song and many other great ballads titled " Sil Austin Plays Pretty for the People." One of my favorite records. Thanks so much for adding this song to Youtube. BG
