I think you mean heading SOUTH from Nouakchott to Nouadhibou. The sea would be on the right if you were going North. Hope you had GPS! :-)

Mauritania is on the west coast of Africa. Heading north the sea is on the left.

Oops! You are dead right! What a gaff! It come of my spending so many days driving South and being used to sand on the left and sea on the right! It's a wonder I got to The Gambia with navigational skills like that!
