  • wow 8 day round trip

  • Does a roughnecks on one of these make as much as on a regular rig?

  • Mmm..... And you call yourself riggers?? I don't think so. I don't see anyone gettin any thing done. Boring. Get a job on a real rig goofs.

  • in wv we call these super slow singles

  • super singles are garbage I worked on one and the trip times were so damn slow it was boring, the hands wouldn't last a hitch on a kelly rig they cried about not having ditch witches for trenches.

  • I have been on JB Hunt rig 1 many many times. I dont believe I ever met you though. When we came to run tools it seemed to always be the other hitch. I do remember working for Butterbean quite alot before he left for Chesapeake. JB hunt 1, an identical rig to the DeSoto rigs, did indeed run much faster because of the crew and work ethic. I regret never recording JB Hunt 1. Please dont hold that against me!

  • i worked for jb hunt rig 1 here in arkansas...i will say we hit two state records and we was alot faster than that lol.you shouldve been recording us because that makes singles look bad.we moved ,drilled, and was set up on a new location in a week....love them bonuses!!and i was the first female roughneck in arkansas....we could put that to shame!

  • Not like the SuperSingle i worked on... tongs & slips thrown by the roughneck. Our rig was really fast, we busted a nut tripping in/out..big tongs and all. Only thing I hated was the small floor, tongs hit the derrick sometimes.

I hope I never have to work on a rig like this...what would I do?

  • Looks to me like the wormy driller is scared. You need to see how a pro can trip some pipe on ONE of these rigs. Don't be afraid to throttle up for some hydraulic speed. These litle rigs are capable of moving so much quicker.

  • This is MD Cowan "Super Single", that was sold to DeSoto among other things.

  • obviously not a tri-city rig, hahahaha, I thought I'd return to the rigs for the winter for something to do... The push said they had no spinning chain... That'd be a good thing if a chain tong wasn't the replacement. That thing was so fucking old I'm surprised the local museum representative didn't come by looking for a missing drill rig,lol

  • I have been following these rigs around for 2 years as a 3rd party hand and Yes these rigs are super slow, but as much as I hate to say this, SEECO was smart by using them in this new field (fayetteville shale)where there is a lack of experienced hands and previously there was no oilfield here. They have had zero fatalities.(knock on wood)I could only imagine the death toll had they brought a bunch of jack-knife triples out and hired 500 hillbillies to run them!

  • my brother in law is a consultant on one of those rigs, im a driller for h&p on a supersingle in west texas those rigs are completely different, good vid tho i also drill with air

  • my first drilling job I was on one of these....a nightmare....hydrolics and me do not get along lol.....great video though.

  • h&p has a super single that made 57443' in 45 days top that

  • if off an old pd rig and was on a trailblazer super single. oh my god if i was allowed to video tape my old rig running in there would have been police and oh&s and field super intendants and everyone from the top down there to hang us by our necks cause we blew pretty much 90 percent of the singles out there out of the water for speed. trilblazer has some nutcase fast ones now. but that piece of shit i saw right there is fucking dirt slow. i tink if that did 2900m in 6 days we would do it in 4

  • It looks really slow. I'm JAM operator. We make 9000 ft 7 inch casing running in 9 hours. W/o fill-up tool. Is it possible with this "super single"?

  • I work for Desoto in Arkansas. i service this rig weekly. I am new to drilling also. It looks slow, but really isn't. I've seen Rig 1 punch 9000 feet in 6 days. Is that slow? I don't know.

  • I think that whether or not it is slow has largely to do with the quality and experience of the roughnecks that take care of it. From what I have seen, J.B. Hunt rig 1 (an identical rig to these DeSoto rigs) out performs them in almost every measurable aspect. It has been awhile since I have been on a DeSoto rig. They may be getting better and faster and safer.

  • Dang, that does look slow.

  • dam man, thats takin half the effort and twice the time. I like to ol way!! But cool video man!!
