I own a Blu-Ray Player but I do not want to use it as my DVD player as well, I want to know which Upscaling DVD player is the best one to go for ?

Most Blu-ray players will upconvert regular DVD to 1080P via HDMI. My Playstation 3 does the same job. Some expensive TVs like Sony XBR6 will take 480i signal and upconvert it to 1080p. A upconverting DVD player is usually not necessary to buy.

I totally agree with you. I bought a Toshiba XDE and returned it 3 days later, the XDE did make DVDs look better,less fuzzy, they were a bit more clear. But then again it wasn't a huge difference to my Sony DVD player hooked up through component cables.

What is your opinion about Upscaling ? Why do you say that an Upscaling DVD player isn't necessary to buy ?

I have a Samsung LN52A550 and it does not look like it upscales DVDs to 1080P, so I use my Playstation 3 to upscale DVDs to 1080P. The Playstation 3 makes DVDs look like 1080P. If I did not have a PS3 then I would buy a upconverting DVD player.

Dvd's will still be around for a while. Blu Ray sucks. Some players only play 1.0, others do 1.1, and now or soon 2.0. Until they standardize the format, it isn't a good idea to buy one yet. Plus it still has to fight theaters, downloads, etc...
