  • From what I've read, this is ACADIAN, as opposed to CAJUN, music.

Yes, I know Cajuns descended from Acadians, and the the word Cajun is derived from the word Acadian, but if I understand correctly, Acadians and Cajuns are distinct ethnic groups.

This sounds a lot like a lot of Cajun music I've heard.

  • c ma petit couzine :)

  • I would like to have the lyrics to this song if anyone know's them the same way Edithh sing's it

  • Lyrics to this song, Where could we get it?

  • Edith is a great singer.

  • I named one of my daughters Colinda... after Gene Vincent's version. I've recorded this song too but it's not released yet.

  • FRANCAIS.

Ces la version Acadienne Française du Nouveau Brunswick et non pas le Cajun de la Louisiane.

Doug Kershaw chante la version Cajun écouté la sur Youtube.

    English.

it's the New Brunswick Acadienne French version not the Louisiana Cajun

Doug Kershaw sings it Cajun style on Youtube, Check it out!.

  • dommage j 'aimerais la revoir en France

  • NAGYON SZUPER DAL KÖSZÖNÖM.

  • I grew up with this as my favorite Cajun song (I'm of Broussard extraction). My personal translation of the lyrics goes like this. "Let's dance, Colinda, Let's dance like we're glued together; Let's dance, Colinda, & make the old women angry. Let's dance, Colinda, Let's dance like we're glued together; Let's dance, Colinda, Your mother isn't watching."

  • She says: "Allons danser Colinda, danser collés Colinda, allons danser Colinda pendant que ton père n'est pas là"

If you listen carefully you will understand this old fashion french accent, vive les cajuns et la Louisiane.lol.

  • I'm 3rd generation Canadian. I don't understand what she is singing but it feels like home!

  • She's saying "come on and dance Colinda"

  • Kind of ashamed that I don't understand French better. In any case she's great!

  • Country music sounds good in any language.

  • yeees!

  • non, je n'aime que la musique 'country' des acadiens/cajuns

  • Shades of Don Messers Jubilee.

  • Excellent rendition of Dansons La Colinda

  • thank gosh my Canadian taxes put this one on a stamp!

  • せっこりんらぁん (>ヮ<)

  • Merci infiniment,que de souvenirs!!

  • Lucille Starr does a wonderful version of Colinda, part en anglais, part en francais. There are 2 versions of it here on YouTube, her recording, and a live version which she redid.

  • @fiugd C'est une chanson merveilleuse! I think that Lucille Starr's recording was the inspiration for all the modern recordings of this song, and you can hear it on YouTube. Be sure to hear the version by Lee Benoit and the Bayou Stompers, also on YouTube. It's a very modern Cajun recording. Does anyone know if Jimmy C. Newman (of the Grand Ole Opry) ever recorded this tune?

  • C'est Cajun extrordinaire. Have you heard Rod Bernard's version? and his other hit (not so popular 'Fais Do Do' It's about a girl in Upalosa Louisiana (not sure of spelling)

  • Opelousas, St. Landry Parish

  • Merci

  • combien de souvenirs c'es bon Edith!!!

  • J'adore... merci !

  • elle est trop forte celle-là! Vive Édith Butler!
