There were 2 movies that had Titanic sink in 1 piece and that were black and white, this movie and the movie A Night to Remember, originally a book published by Walter Lord, a man who survived the disaster.
I like it when Captain Smith said these very brave words: "At this hour, all Wireless Communication broken off, All lifeboats manned and lowered away, This vessel sinking hard by the bow". The hour was 2:18 or 2:19 A.M. cause Titanic slipped beneath the surface at exactly: 2:20 A.M. . And The Wireless Communication was broken off cause the power went out. R I P R.M.S. Titanic, you will be missed. T_T
Nearer My God to Thee. Nearer to Thee : E'en though it be a cross, That raiseth me : Still all my song shall be, Nearer My God to Thee. Nearer to Thee. Though like the wonderer. The sun gone down. Darkness comes over me. My rest a stone : Yet in my dreams i'd be Nearer My God to Thee. Nearer to.. *CRASH* *EXPLOSION* *BAM* *Titanic sinks* the passengers on Titanic didn't finish, put the ones in the lifeboats... did it for them. NEARER MY GOD TO THEE, NEARERRR TOOO THEEEE!!!!! THE END.
And also, when Captain Smith looks up at the White Star Line flag, and looks down sadly, I salute, then when Titanic goes down, i salute, and when the passengers stop singing Nearer My God to Thee and the THE END pops up, i salute one last time, with tears rolling down my cheeks NEARER MY GOD TO THEEEE!!! NEARERRR TOOO THEEE!!!!!
I always cry at the beginning and end of the Nearer My God to Thee song. At the end: passengers, in 19 lifeboats, survived. "NEARER MY GOD TO THEE... NEARER TOOOO THEEEEEE!!!!!" THE END
Well not to add more fuel to the fire above, but that' NOT how the R.M.S titanic Sank.
sorry, and NO I wasn't there. However, every survivor who has lived to give an interview & details of that night, all the accounts claim that the titanic snapped in half. the front pulled the back of the ship down, and just before fully going under, the front separates from the back, causing the back to shot up into the sky and slowly sink.
Technology, evidence and eye witnesses proved that.
@Mayuniko This film was made in the fifties. Only upon discovery of the wreck in the eighties did the popular theory become that the ship split. There was much confusion before then over if the ship split because it broke right after the lights went out, so not everyone's eyes were able to adjust quickly enough to see the split, resulting in most of the witnesses saying they never saw it split during the testimonies.
Furthermore, it's a Hollywood movie! Hollywood doesn't care about accuracy!
deze film heb ik al 20 keer gezien. elke keer als je deze film weer zie. dan kom je ook elke keer dingen te zien . en dat is de mooiste van deze film om naar te kijken.
@whatacrapday Yes it did, but they didn't find this out until 1985 when the ship was discovered under water, this film was made almost 30 years prior so they didn't imaigne this to have happened (:
this was my favorite movie when i was little, i didnt really know that this was a true story then. i feel soo emotional now that i know it was.. my heart goes out to the passengers that died that night.
its sadder to see people singing while the titanic sink than the james cameron's titanic sink with the song ! pas mal pour un film de cette epoque even if the titanic sink faster than 1997's titanic et bizzarement aussi mais bn
@2magpies The emergency boats were taken by 12 or 26 people instead of 65. I'm sure people weren't as peaceful as the ones in this movie. So I don't think the titanic went down like that..
@2magpies When the wreck was discovered in 1985 she was found to have broken in half. After many years of investigations, scientists from Woods Hole Oceanagraphic Insititute and IFREMER have proven that on the night, the Titanic rose to an angle of 13 degrees before splitting in two on the surface. The stern was pulled vertical by the bow and sank shortly after. All the smoke stacks broke free also. Don't take hollywood's word on historical accuracy. This is the short version of how she sank.
@crisrea12345 They can prove it with physics. It was divided into i think 12 compartments below for water to flood in. 4 of those can be filled with water. It had 5 compartments filled. So it kinda went into 2 pecies but has a 3rd piece brake off when it was about to go under.
@tvland2007 No it did not, but don;t forget the ship wasn;t discovered under water until 1985, it was then they found out that the shi[ and broken in half. this film was made almost 30 years prior to this being found out. they could only go by witness' and how they imagined it to happen. I hope this helps :)
The movie is the 1950s version of "Titanic" with Clifton Webb (seen standing with his son) and Barbara Stanwick (in lifeboat). In the movie they are first class passengers (the old couple also seen in the clip are the Guggenheims). Their calm and "stiff upper lips" in the face of tragedy are a class thing. We don't view things through this lens so much today. But it's still an excellent movie--the best version of the Titanic story IMHO.
the part were you see the people than son and father it made me burst into tears, to think what was going through these peoples minds those last few moments. so so sad!
yes this is a Church song, it is a Catholic hymn , im glad that at least the people at the titanic heard it befor they died. it is so sad that so many died.
i cant imagine what was going through the minds of the people in the lifeboats when they heard this song....its a great song, but that would of been horrible....rip to everyone who was on board.
@theonewithnousername in this movie, that boy is with his mom and sister, and that guy is his moms ex husband, and he thinks the man is his dad. but he's really not, and when it's sinking, he stays with his "dad"...that makes it sadder.
Even though this is the American version of the hymm, and a passenger on the ship reported hearing the old english version of the hymm, this is still a very sad video, it is like a chorus of a thousand doomed souls
Even though the historic details of the sinking and the final moments of the movie are not accurate, it is still one of the best movie clips ever, very sad, it made me cry the first time I watched it:-(
well if you have watched the film.. and read the history about what happened . what else could they have done. i should think some of those people did panic .. but the end would have been the same ....Death.. very sad
something else about molly was that she carried a egyptiantalisman on the titanic for good luck . she gave it to the captainof the carpathia to thank him for saving her life

But both are fitting tributes to one of the saddest events of the 20th century. God rest all of their souls.
If I remember correctly, people really were heard singing "Nearer, My God, To Thee" on the ship from the lifeboats. That's why it's in all of the movies about the Titanic.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
They would have more people surviving if they had more lifeboats, but people from the older times are not as smart as most of the current people. plus,Titanic is no girl, thats wierd saying Titanic is a she.
Every ship is called "she". And people were as smart as they are now, they just cared more about the luxurity than the safety. Titanic was called the unsinkable ship so no one bothered
It actually had more lifeboats than the Board of Trade required, as the outdated regulations only classed these ships as 10,000+tons, when the titanic was more like 45,000 tons. The long, glancing blow that the iceberg caused was not anticipated, they thought that there would either be a head-on collision or something like a "t-bone" not puncturing more than 2 compartments. Either way they thought that there would be life boats to save some and a nearby ship to save the rest.
You're either very young and speak too fast for your brain to kick in, or you're simply uneducated and should know better than to speak up like that and be so utterly rude.
People from 'older times' are the people that did not have the technology that we have today. 80% of the items we use today are because they WERE so smart as to come up with things we still use today. We are no smarter today than we were 100 years ago. Ships have always been referred to as 'she'. Go read some history.

Humanity is going to crash with the same speed as the sinking of the Titanic.
But we won't be standing still, awaiting our fate serenely.
We will helplessly succumb to famines or perish in the final wars for the last last drops of water on a depleted world.
That's the message of the Titanic: the end of technocratic hubris and overexploitation of a finite planet Earth.

If I remember correctly, people really were heard singing "Nearer, My God, To Thee" on the ship from the lifeboats. That's why it's in all of the movies about the Titanic.
