  • Lmao wowwwwww

  • this is cool. i got both side of my toe nail removed. then two weeks later i got the other.

  • I have a question, I had this procedure done with my local Podiatrist along with Phenol.... and it's been about 2 months and the nails on both big toes look brittle and ugly as well as the skin having minor inflammation on one & the other toe already seems to have a recurring ingrown nail on the corner... Should I seek a new podiatrist?

  • I am absolutely terrified to get my ingrown toenail removed now. I am not good with pain.

  • Do you always use a Rongeur for this procedure?

  • i need this done mine is not infected but it hurts but i am sscared wat if they want to take the whole toe nail out ?

  • That must have hurt so much prior to surgery :( Hope it's better

  • Perhaps a stupid question but it there anaesthetic?

  • @MsAmber626 Yes we use a digital local anesthesia to do this procedure in the office. Very common procedure. Best Wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer the anesthesia part confuses me? Do the needle stay in me or it is just one shot? I get ingrown toenaills about every two weeks and they keep coming back its slightly infected but no fungi. What do you think will happem?

  • @donnakardashian Two sticks, one on each side of the toe. The needle does not stay in. The procedure works very well. Best Wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @ZuBeRCraZyBassY The only pain you feel is when they numb your toe. It feels like someone is squeezing the life out of your toe and then it's over.

  • @bluelunchpail The shot does hurt due to a burning feeling, but after that you should not feel anything. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • I remember when I had this done to my foot as well I was surprised by the amount of time the doc did this in.

  • @mota411 This typically is a very quick procedure and straight forward. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • i am going to have this done too .....does this pain when the surgery is done .... im really scared ! ??

  • @ZuBeRCraZyBassY The post-operative pain is very minimal with this procedure typically. I had the procedure done on both big toes and played basketball the next day. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer i wish i could have done it the same way as its shown here but my DOC suggested to remove it entirely and its been 2 days since i had it removed ... cant even walk properly :(

  • What would motivate someone to become a podiatrist???

  • @BeatboxProfessional I visited a podiatrist and really liked how he was able to help people, had a normal life style relatively speaking, enjoyed his job, patients loved him and he enjoyed his job. Podiatry is a great profession and I would recommend it to anyone interested. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • i threw up........ in my head

  • @ElDiablo9561 Surgery is not for everybody to watch. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • had mine done today. still num hahah

  • @ObeseNinjaFTW How was it afterwards? Like does it hurt to walk/bathe

  • @MsAsianNinja It was pretty good the first night was uncomfortable because of the wrapping but as soon as i got it off it felt so good. I got the wrapping off 2 days after and was able to shower 3 days after that and it didn't feel to bad.

  • @ObeseNinjaFTW Hopefully, your healing is going well. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @ObeseNinjaFTW Ususally will be numb for several hours. The procedure is not very painful post operatively anyway. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • I think I need this on both of my big toes, on the outside part of the nail. I've had problems with the skin getting infected and I try to cut the nail myself, but it always comes back. Do you always have to be awake for the procedure? Watching this almost made me pass out, really. :|

  • @Gameroze This procedure is a great procedure, very predictable. I have had it done on both my big toes and both sides of each big toe. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer. Hi, i cut my nail a bit too short about a month ago. It is now infected and quite painful in the area. I have used antiseptic cream every night but it won't go away. Does it sound like ingrown toe nail?

  • @mr9396 Yes it does, I would suggest seeing a podiatrist in your area. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer. Right, ok thanks very much. I will see my doctor then ask him to refer me on to one. Im from England, but in America is the procedure expensive?

ps. Thanks, it is very rare indeed to find somebody on youtube that is as helpful as you!

  • @mr9396 No the procedure is very reasonable and performed in the office. Thank you.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer. Thanks. just thought i'd let you know that i went to my doctor and they gave me some tablets and told me to soak my foot in salty water. If it hasn't gone in a month then i should have the side of the nail cut off. If it wasn't for you then i would have left it. Thanks again.

  • @mr9396 Hopefully you have healed from your ingrown toenail, if not this procedure is a great one as it is very predictable. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer. Ah, good to hear from you. I've let it be for a couple of weeks now and the pain has gone away, there is still a slight lump where it is, but hopefully it will disapear in a few more weeks, if not i will see my doctor again. Thanks for your help and your concern.

  • I'm scared of needles is there another way to make it numb?

  • @DubStepxDVecc

lol, needles don't hurt man...its just a little sting. What do you think getting a needle feels like? getting stabbed?

  • @pijef It's not the fact that they "hurt" I just have a psychological fear of injections >.<

  • @DubStepxDVecc Don't watch. I have the same fear of needles. It's easiest to just not look.

  • @DubStepxDVecc I got mine done today and i didnt get numbed, and to be honest, the pain before getting it cut hurt more, its the biggest relief ever when you get it cut and it doesnt hurt one bit!

  • @DubStepxDVecc No, that is the only way other than a general anesthesia. It is really not too bad. You could take a sedative prior to the procedure, which would help. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Just had this procedure, doesn't hurt at all the needle was the only part I felt, and after that it was nub for hours.

  • @bye130 I hope your post operative course went smoothly for you. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @blackice5456 It is ususally just done under a local anesthetic in the office. It is really not a big deal. I have had it done myself. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Im scared. i will sit 2hrs for a tattoo but I cant bear the thought of this and mine only needs a ' lift '

  • @garysquirrelreviews This procedure is not bad at all, you will be surprised how easy it is. I have had it done myself. It will be something you will be glad you did. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • You're welcome Dr. Good to see the world still has amazing Dr's :) Best wishes to you as well :)

  • great work Dr. The snap sound did scare me but you got it done face and she didn't seen to feel a thing.

  • @msreddbone77 Thank you for the kind comment. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • dang i had my both my toes down 6 times

  • @WarpedNut That is unusual to have to have it done so often. I hope you are well now. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • i just got one done today

  • @Ridebmx331 Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer thank you it seems to still be bleeding alot and minor brusing should i be concerend about it or is it normail?

  • @Ridebmx331 Pretty normal with early post operative course. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer thank you! have a nice day

  • Where can I get my hands on Phenol to prevent the root from growing back?

  • Comment removed

  • ive gone twice and mine still comes back. even after the doc killed the root, it still came back on the same side. any answers to that?

  • @MrStockholmz I would switch to a sharp procedure like a Winograd procedure. That is what I would recommend. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Is there any way to find a doctor that does this particular procedure in my area? I'm a runner and my ingrown toenail is really preventing me from running as much as I'd like.

  • @shroyerdave This is a very common procedure done by podiatrist. I would look for a well-known podiatrist in your area. They should be able to handle this for you. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • im so scared...i have mine removed tomorrow for the 2nd time :'(. my dad was talking about the docter doing some acid treatment...do you know anything about it cuz i have no clue.. thank you

  • @DiscombobulatedCaleb This procedure is not too bad, I have had it done myself. There is about a 5% regrowth rate. Hopefully, this time was better for you. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A DeHeer, DPM

  • @Brentasauruss No, the block to the toe should be done at the base of the digit. It is much less painful and allows the entire toe to numb. I would suggest a specialist for this procedure. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • y feeet are feelign sow ierd rite now jsut watchign it lol

  • @jwaters19 Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer i have an ingrown toenail. it is infected too. what would a doctor do for me? thanks. it is VERY painful :(

  • @TheUnknowncrap We remove the the corner of the nail and make it so it will not grow back. This is the procedure with this video. It has a 95% success rate. I hope this helps. Best wishes.

    Dr. Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • uhhh does it hurt?

  • @sfking134 The procedure is done with the toe numb, and the post operative care is usually not very painful unless there is a complication like an infection. Best wishes.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • I am sorry I do not speak spanish. I would be glad to answer your question. Best wishes.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Uhhhhh i hate ingrown toenails its the worst pain ever!

  • @LBDannyBoy Yes it is painful, but this procedure works very well.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @padeheer Ive had 5 ingrown toenails and my doctor did the same procedure like the one you did in this video, but then at the end he puts this liquid which he tells me the root of the nail will never grow again.

  • @padeheer and will it hurt because im 13

  • cool video! did you do a h-block for the local?

  • @bd6m20 Yes I did, I use 0.5% Marcaine and 2.0% Xylocaine plain 5 cc total. Thank you for the comments.

  • What determines whether or not you remove the whole nail?

  • @PoppaBlue59 I remove the side of the nail for an ingrown toenail. If the nail is fungal, then I will remove the entire nail. Best wishes.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • @makeupbyAmberLee No it has a 95% success rate with the nail not growing back. The skin does heal back. You wear a dressing for one day and then use a band-aid and a cream. You can wear closed toe shoes. Best wishes. This takes about three weeks to completely heal from.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • will it grow back for god sakes im only 15 how does it happen to me

  • what anethesia did she have ?

  • @VALVEGAMER20 This is done with a local anesthesia to the big toe in the office. Best wishes.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • I had something similar done a couple of days ago. The only difference is that I had two ingrown sides on my right big toe, and one ingrown side on the big left toe. The right toe was infected. What sort of recovery time can I expect?

  • @P2GearsOfWar It usually takes about 3 weeks for this to heal. The healing is relatively simple. Just follow you instructions. Best wishes.

  • well... my procedure bothered me for a good 2 days real badly... but its not typical. Nobody i have ever met had the complications i had. it could have just been poorly done. I know phenol burns flesh. is that the purpose of its application here? to kinda scar the area so it wont grow back soon? It burns and numbs at the same time its kind of interesting.

  • @jailorjoe1978 The phenol kills the nail root and prevents the nail from growing back. This procedure has been around for over 50 years and still the most common way to treat this condition.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Green toe ring ! LOL

  • @ussenterprise24 It is not too bad, I have had mine done and played basketball the next day. Hope this helps.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • ah god that looked like it felt so good when the nail popped right out.

  • How long do you have to keep that bandage?

I'm 13 and I'm getting this done, I got an ingrown toenail from playing soccer with cleats that were too tight...

  • You leave the dressing on for one day, then change it daily. It takes about 3-4 weeks to completely heal. I had mine done and played basketball the next day on it. Best wishes.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Alright, and thanks for the quick reply!

  • It is a very standard procedure.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Pretty job! Quickly and professional. Five stars!

  • Thank you, have been doing it for 20 years!

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • It causes less trauma to the nail bed to do it this way.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Dr. Patrick can you tell me what to do because i had my ingrown toenail removed 5 times and it keep on comming back . Tks

    (sorry for the bad english)

  • Probably because acid was never used to prevent the nail from coming back. This usually has a 80% success rate.

    Patrick A. DeHeer, DPM

  • Omg!! when the doc flips the nail ! wow

  • that doctor cut of to much nail and that was to quick!

  • woow that was very quick....I mean I'm still only a student but I dont think I'll ever be able to do it that fast !!...Thank you for this vid Dr. DeHeer...It's very interesting ...bt I wud luv it even more if you would explain your procedure :-)
