do you know with which frequencies it works? I'm from Italy and wish to know if it can work also here before doing it. Furthermore, is there a scheme of how to connect the copper wires? Should the copper wires to be of a specific diameter? And length, distances, angles of the wires? Tahnks...
@compassft I think any size copper wires is ok, I think I cut mine at 16 inches and then made it into a V shape and rounded the ends. I don't think it matters if it's 100% perfect. I would think that it would work for any frequencies, but someone designed it for the digital frequencies in the USA. The plans are all over the internet, just search for how to make a digital tv antenna and the plans should come up, that's what I did.
wow, did you say you get 42 channels??? do you live in a bigger city ? we only get 9 channels I guess because the there is so much rural country between us and the tv stations. We have two tv stations that are 15 miles from us and the rest are like 75 miles away. Sucks for us.
@fishernelson I live 30 miles from a big city and get 42 channels and my mom is getting 65 channels, I was surprised at that, and that is just through the living room window. I'm thinking of putting one of these up on the roof and maybe get more channels.
"I got a lot of this stuff at the Dollar Store! I got this cable... ONE DOLLAR" (who knew)... "I got this thing here that you need... ONE DOLLAR. Can't beat it, you just can't beat it"....
What Dollar Store do you shop at cuz all of the things I buy there are more expensive? I guess you can't really beat it!
@rtt1969 im happy my flat screen has a built in box :D im not bragging in any way so dont yell at me for doing so.....people are based on actions not income
can you send me those instructions i have a crappy antenna only gives me 3 channels and it sticked out he window and i have aweful reception my freind gave me a small tv i have my ps2 connected to it and its grat and it was all free but whenever i am watching tv the signal is really crappy and i dont have as many channels as you do and you seem to be honest with it thanks i am getting some oxy actylene welding rod instead of coat hangers from my auto teacher
There's a guy on here named jwwm2 who has posted a video ("Better HDTV Antenna") building an improved version of this design... with insulators made from 1" PVC pipe and other engineering considerations... they could probably be incorporated into this antenna (using longer screws) if you already made one from this design. So search for jwwm2 and check his video too if you're going to build (or already have built) one of these.
Good video, rtt1969; I want to make one to pick up Canadian and American stations from my place near NF Canada. CN tower is 40 miles away. Grand Island about the same and Buffalo a little farther. Free HD. Yay!
This kind of antenna will work for bringing in the digital channels, but you need a box unless your tv has a box built in. My LCD tv is old 3 or 4 years old so it doesn't have it built in. I have one of those $50 digital boxes and the antenna hooks to that.
I don't remember, I go to all of them, some dollar stores are loaded with good stuff and others don't have much. Maybe a slinky would work too, I'll have to try that sometime and hang it in the window, I've seen metal slinky's for $1
Add a VHF dipole antenna to this rig and you should get KGO. Just find a cheapo one. I have a VHF digital station near me and the dipole picks it up great. They are on VHF and that antenna u just made is UHF.
I don't remember what site I found them off, I just searched for homemade digital tv antenna and some sites popped up and I think there is a youtube video on how to make it. I didn't even follow the instructions exactly, I don't think it needs to be done exactly perfect.
It's always good to buy American, but with everyone going on strike for more money, there is pretty much no way to buy American, people here demand $25 per hour for the job that these Chinese people get paid 25 cents per hour and they don't complain, they are thankful to have a job.
I can't afford American, and I don't believe in striking. But I have a really nice girl, most beautiful angel from heaven you ever seen and it's not easy to find a girl that will love you for who you are.

@oninlasam I don't think the Philippines has digital tv right now, so this antenna would only work to bring in UHF channels

In Buffalo, NY do we get canadian channels on a homemade antennas?
412Flame 2 years ago
That would be nice, I guess if you are close enough to the canadian tv stations, you could get both countries and have lots of channels.

Maybe I need to build a homemade strong antenna to get alot more canadian channels and more in Buffalo, NY.

Keep supporting China and the big Corporations and you too will be making 25 cents an hour and NEVER be able to buy a nice home or car!
You will be living on the street while the CEO and managers are sitting eating lobster and steaks and driving their BMW around.
Just because you have a job it doesn't mean SHIT,if that job doesn't pay the bills or put food on the table...why go?

i live 60 miles from the tv towers how far are u from the tv towers
atyourservice666 2 years ago
I'm about 30 miles from the tv towers, so you might have to put your antenna outside, or higher up by the ceiling or in a window.
I moved mine from the floor up about 2 1/2 feet by the window and now I get every channel perfect, nothing breaks up.

you should show your reception you get before you plug in your antenna to see how noticeable the difference is. cool though i'll have to try it out.

This is a very impressive demonstration. Thanks for the upload. I'll look around for some parts so I can make my own. :)
I've been experimenting a few prototypes and have only been able to receive 5-6 digital channels here in Toronto, ON.
