"KLAATU BARADA NIKTO!" Then the caption below those words on the box: "Please Retain this INFORMATION for FUTURE REFERENCE." U got that RIGHT! The "information" printed above this caption! U never know if a "Real GORT" might show up in our "Future" and if so we have the words that might make GORT "Think about what GORT wants to do!
It looks pretty close to the original but it's disappointing that it's visor doesn't open and a battery powered LED light doesn't come on moving from left to right just like it did in the movie..... or something like that. I want one with a working visor light.
@TwinMillMC Agree and given the PRICE of this stuff now a days they should! Don't know if anyone knows or cares but BOEING has come out with pre-painted DREAM LIFTERS the Freight Air Carriers (modified 747F) that carry the fueslage and wings of the 787. The tail swings open to load and unload the cargo but the model is soild and it should have the tail swing out so a collector could put a 1/200 scale 787 aircraft wings and stuff inside it! Come on Boeing--THINK! This would be a great sales item!
I think I am more in impressed with the collector friendly packaging than the figure itself.
It's not uncommon to get stuff like this in nice packaging, but as careful as you might be, you end up damaging the box to get at the item. If I'm confronted with such a problem, I will sit looking at it for a considerable time before deciding how to open it. This may seem extreme, but I sometimes take a picture of it before I get it out, so I know in future how it's suppose to go back if necessary.
The BEST version of Gort we've ever gotten in figure format. Only Billiken's may be better in appearance but WAY undersized. Barbi man?...hardly...glad the figure was made the way it was to retain the look of this most awesome of moviedom's robots. Great review!
Yes i love this film and on my top 10 list. I too am a little sad the visor doesnt open. It should for what they are asking for the statue. Maybe a red laser light in it... Just an Ideal. I didnt like the new at all... The music was awful as was the acting. But i guess iam just a old timer remembering how it use to be...
I like him better in the remake it shows more how can I say like he's stronger So personally I luved the remake it wasnt better but it was a decent film....
I thought that articulation in the wrists would have been much more appropriate than the ankles. How else can he be expected to carry a semi nude babe (or Patricia O'Neil)? :)
I thought your review was on the mark. This 16" vinyl Gort is a HUGE improvement over the previous 16" resin statue. A much more worthy companion for the approxiamtely 16" vinyl Robby the Robot, YM-3 (Lost In Space Robot) and Maria from Metropolis produced by Masudaya of Japan. The 16" resin statue is downright scrawny in comparison.
nice to see bernard hermannn getting a mention--great job on the camera--i think this is the best replica done on gort--where is it made? and approx. price--thanks
Yeah, I know it's a bit different than what we normally do video reviews for, but vinyl figures are usually more for display than play. It's common for them to have only 3-6 points of articulation.

@MisterEvasion You should just buy 2 of them like I do. I buy 1 to play with and I leave the other 1 in the box to keep it MIB.

be nice if you could make a Gort with a viser that lifts up... maybe an LED red light with him getting his heat ray going
mysticradio 2 years ago
It would be so much cooler if his visor could open, and he would be remade for the remake with Keanu Reeves.

My only criticisms of this figure are:
1) the crease across the chest
2) the back of the feet seem TOO square
