  • The red line looks better if it runs ABOVE ground

  • i think 501's still in service.

  • they sound so beautiful still when pulling into the station lol

  • I rode on one of those (the Red Line to be exact) and it was pretty cool.

  • Lol, this is probably the last time those subway cars saw the light of day. If any future Red/Purple Line extensions are approved, they really should consider surface tracks wherever possible for three reasons: 1) costs, 2) ability to enjoy a sunny day, and 3) showing people how much time they're wasting in traffic.

  • no kiddin. only time they see light of day is when they're laid up in the yard...which is outdoors

  • @ea90744 Why is it bad ? In Praha is almost all system in tunels too.

  • @ea90744 LOL xD

  • Actually, the carts are stored outside.

Ya, ea90744 pointed that out 9 months ago :-p. I've also changed my stance on subway extensions after exploring the westside for myself; I can't see any surface heavy rail along Wilshire...ain't gonna happen.

    Thanks for replying.

  • "Westbound-501, what is your position? You have orders to return to the station, Westbound-501."

  • Exact subway car used in the film 'Speed'. The Breda A650. Built between 1988-1993. 75 ft. long, 10 ft. wide. AC propulsion system, top speed 75 mph.

  • They were clean back then.

  • yea, now they look alot more dull and have all the water stains from the water that drips down the cars. i wish they would at least give the cars a decent wash every now and then

  • They looked very good back in the day, they brought out the new generation in subway.
