Stiffelio and Aroldo, two (intimately connected) operas that should be better known by the opera loving public. Verdi himself thought that of his lesser performed works, Stiffelio was one he believed deserved more appreciation. There are some truly lovely arias i this opera. I never tire of them.
Wonderful! Thanks for posting this. Sharon Stone has a beautiful voice, she sings well with Placido Domingo. Stiffelio is the first time I've seen her. I'm going to look for more of her performances.
Thanks for the upload. Shame this only has 40 views, as this is one of my very favorite opera DVD moments ever. Stiffelio is a wonderful opera and is easily one of Domingo's best roles. I love how varied his voice is here according to the situation. I'm so glad that it was eventually found and that he eventually did it.
I can't believe I said that! I can't stand Sharon Stone! Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Is it true that Verdi operas are in decline due to the very great difficulty of finding people who can sing them?

The second duet, where she asks for a divorce is waaaay better musically and dramtically

Well, he asks for divorce, and I'm not sure what is so bad about this duet that the other warrants a "waaaay" better.
This opera is so gorgeous straight through in my opinion, apart from maybe Stankar's cabaletta (big surprise there).
