A truly awesome piece of work for one of in my mind the biggest legends ever.Big guys will come and go but they will never be another Dr.Death Steve Williams.Thank you for sharing this.
I remember being a naive kid watching WWF thinking Hulk Hogan and the Ultimate Warrior were the strongest guys ever only to see real strength displayed. It was a NWA cage match and Dr. Death military pressed Bam Bam Gordy(300lb man) into the roof of the cage for 10 reps. I knew then who the man really was. R.I.P Dr. Death. A mans man.
Thanks Doc. I wish I could have seen more of his work, it's obvious that the world of wrestling was truly blessed when this man chose to wrestle for so many years.
Rest well Steve, you've earned it, and the wrestling world has truly lost a legend.
BEST WRESTLER OF ALL TIME IF ONLY HE WOULDNT HAVE GOTTON HURT FIGHTING IN THAT BRAWL FOR ALL AND BLEW OUT LIGAMENTS BOXING WHEN HE SHOULDA BEEN WRESTLING I DONT KNOW WHY ANYONE LET HIM SIGN UP HE HAD TOO MUCH TALENT TOO RISK DOING SOMETHING HE WAS NOT TRAINED TO DO.BUT SEEING HOW HE WRESTLED I KNOW THIS MAN WALKED WITH NO FEAR JUST PASSION I WILL FOREVER LEARN FROM HIS MOVES AND TECHNIQUE AND PASS ON TO MINE WHAT I SAW AND BELIEVED AS TRUE GREATNESS MEASURED AGAINST THE REST OF THE SOCALLED BEST
True professional wrestling fans understand the sacrifices men and women such as "Dr. Death" make to simply entertain us. These sacrifices are lost on many fans of my generation but let me personally say thank you to the pros that do what they do...and an extra thanks to those who treat it with the respect of a "sport." RIP Doc!
Jeez I had no idea he passed away until it said RIP at the end of the video. I'm so sad. Loved the Varsity Club. The Doc and Gordy duo in Japan, WCW and ECW is legendary.
Dr Death was one of my favorites...His UWF and Japan matches are some of the best ever!! I was so stoked to see him when he hit WWE mid/late 9o's, too bad they criminally mis-used him. I will always remember him w/ Dibiase...My favorite tag team ever!!
REST IN POWER STEVE WILLIAMS!!
UWF/Mid South was unbelievable!! I lived in Leesville, La. and we would go to see the UWF shows @ Ft Polk. They had the best roster ever, it was always quality over quantity with them!!
Dr. Death in Mid South/UWF was flipping awesome. When he beat Big Bubba Rogers for the UWF belt that was fricking sweet, back when winning a belt actually meant something
RIP Doc - Thank you for the honor of letting me get to know one of my childhood favorites, one of the toughest there ever was, and a true inspiration to us all. "Dr. Death will live forever."
I saw doc at the old barton fair grounds got his autograph he was a great guy and i for one will miss him . i guess Gods is a wrestling fan well he's got one heck of a six man Gordy Hawk and BIG DOC vs David Kerry and JYD
then you have truly missed out this guy had 5star matches every week in japan,a true legend and possibly vince mcmahons biggest mistake was to put gloves on him to box ,he went in there injured,if they would have removed the gloves it would have been a different story,he would have made a tremendous opponent for stone cold if handled correctly, shame on wwe.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i hear what your saying and i did see alot of his matches... he wouldnt have been good in the wwe.. he was way to physicall and woulod have ended up hurting too many guys kinda like ahmed johnson did.. no way to really market him either? i didnt think much of his interviews.. he was a good stiff type of wrestler but back in the attitude era he would have been labelled as boring and outdated for sure..it was the 90's not the 80's just cuz he's jimmy ross's friend doesnt make him god.
Mr. Williams & Terry Gordy were one of my favorite tag-teams during the early 90's within AJPW & WCW, witch I still watch there matches today, as well as Williams UWF years & Gordy's WCCW years with the Freebirds. R.I.P. & Thank you to both Mr. Gordy and Mr. Williams.
I watched Doc from the beginning of his old Mid South days teaming with Ted DiBiase all the way through to the end! Being from Oklahoma and seeing this wonderful man ply his trade I can say I was truly blessed! All your fans love you Doc and we always will!! RIP!!! WE LOVE YOU!!
Thank you for the video! I have followed steve's career since the old UWF.I still have my Dr Death mug, that was a promotional item way back then. Again, thank you so much for the video
I had the privilege of seeing him a few times at a few local indy shows. He was very protective of his throat but he still had a few moves to show the local guys. Actually being able to see a professional wrestling star and getting his autograph is infinitely better than just seeing him win a title match on tv. I can honestly say that I am truly fortunate to have witnessed one of his matches and I wish the best to his loved ones in dealing with this difficult time. RIP Dr. Death Steve Williams.
Great video. Doc was truly one of the best in the history of the sport. I first saw him wrestle in the UWF in 1986 and he instantly become one of my favorites. RIP Doc.
The fight vs Kobashi in 94 when Williams defended his TC was the first Puroresu match I saw and was the match that made me no longer watch American wrestling. Thanks for that Steve. RIP. Legend!!
WWE better push Swagger now in the wake of Dr. Death's unfortunate passing, considering how Williams trained Swagger on his way to the big leagues. R.I.P. Dr. Death.
You know growing up across the state line in Arkansas Dr. Death was one of my guys to hate since I'm Razorback through and through, but he was a source of pride for many Oklahomans throughout his many facets.
As we were able to work with the legends of the business, I learned why it's said you never want to meet your heroes. Nothing was more from the truth than Mr. Williams he will be missed out of the ring more than an in.
Very awesome tribute man the end brought tears to my eyes the world lost a very special person and I know you and Brandon and everyone at ACW are hurting right now and I am praying for all of you and Steves family Awesome tribute for an Awesome man
