  • the most beautiful instrumental i have ever heard.Period

  • This is fantastic. Very glad i stumbled on to this.

  • No comments for 2 months? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS?!

  • I thought I was getting pretty decent at the stick, then I watched this and threw it down a well.

  • Elrond sure can jam!

    I keed! I keed!

  • Epic background! D:

  • It is, in fact, a custom-built Chapman stick. For those of you who don't know what a Chapman stick is, it's a guitar/bass mashup with reversed tuning and designed to be played tapping-style, built like a guitar but played almost like a piano. Normal Sticks are basically just the neck with pickups at the end, but this one looks like it was anchored to an acoustic-bass body to give that characteristic acoustic sound.

  • hey dumbasses thats not a fucking guitar

  • @ilikepenguins100 lmao it not a guitar? lern your instruments dude of course its a guitar wat u think its a piano? LMAO

  • @pseudosacrosanct dumbass, its a chapman stick, look it up. also learn to spell. omg also read the video description and tell me what it says the instrument is

  • @ilikepenguins100 lmao still not a guitar? is it a saxifone? LMAO

  • Comment removed

  • @pseudosacrosanct lol i dont feel like talking to a dumb little kid

  • what's kevin keegan doing on the guitar

  • Shouldn't he be naked? Just wondering.

  • Did you get during recording?

  • this is fake

  • why does he hold his guitar like a faggot

  • @tphaff It's not a guitar you douche. It's an acoustic chapman stick, and it's supposed to be held like that.

  • @tphaff

because it's not a guitar, you faggot

  • @he4rt5 dude, i saw tphaff's channel, he's an african american adult who posts his video game kills in youtube.

he's an exact stereotype of a troll who fails in life, if you ask me.

don't expect anything high from this pathetic excuse for a douchebag who probably doesn't even have a clue of what music is, let alone an instrument such as the chapman stick.

  • @tphaff ok you are the faggot thats not even a guitar dumbass

  • great

  • this is absolutely gorgeous and it makes me cry, I don't know much about music, but I know what I like, thank you, and bless you, for posting this

  • Now this is just insane!! (In the really really good way that is!)

  • you are an amazing artist sir. i love your videos so much :)

  • I watched your other videos. Your living room changed significantly. Great job regardless.

  • Background reminds me of Myst.

  • @Patricka0a01 I agree, and I think it was made in a program called Bryce 3D

  • Finally a version of greensleeves that is made with the proper depth this magical melody deserves. I spent 20 minutes searching youtube to find a good interpretation of it. The set only makes the whole thing a perfect audio-visual experience. I'd love to see some more interpretations of other famous melodies.

  • Oh ye of little faith. I've sat and watched him play. It's real Get over it. He's showed me how he does it. That was a long time ago when he taught guitar at Guitar Showcase in San Jose, CA.

  • I think he means he's overdubbing for the video, he would have recorded in a studio beforehand. Listen to the quality of the recording - I think he's right, that sounds like a studio to me! Then there's also the obvius - hes neither plugged in nor miked up

  • I will explain how the video was done. The music was recorded live as you see it. Go to my lesson "adding high notes to the bass side" to see the technique. In some parts, The left hand is playing the melody and bass parts. The R hand is chords. The only altering later was reverb and EQ and the song recorded in 2 halves. From 0- 1:18 and then the rest. I used 2 cameras with green scr. The guitar chord looked weird and edited out. I used no overdubs. Your interest is very much appreciated...Bob

  • A few of these guys are missing the point: It is simply great music. . .

  • Ignorant fool!!!

  • Yes, you are fool!!! You said he was "pretending" to play it. The music you hear may not be the same as the version you see, but it is the same artist, playing the same exact instrument, playing the same exact notes. Someone who "pretends" to play has no idea what they are doing which is NOT the case here. He was actually playing the instrument not pretending. So you are the idiot who needs to take 5th grade vocabulary again!

And for the record, I've been playing music all my life

  • OMG! First, you need 2 learn 2 read between the lines, THEN pay closer attention to this vid before U start calling people names - you're only making a fool of YOURSELF!

Are you really that naïive & think this vid actually shows the act of his 'playing the instrument' & captures the actual sound of that act? The sound was recorded BEFORE the video was made, he then simply sat & quite convincingly synched his moves to the music. In MY vocabulary it pertains to pretending. Now go and check yours!

  • Well take YOUR vocabulary back to 5th grade!!

The way you said it makes it seem like this guy has no idea what he is doing. (when you say "this guy actually pretends"). Its demeaning.

  • Don't hurt yourself with those big words. lol

And besides, How is this different than any other music video in this universe? You act as if you made a revelation that it's synced.

He never intended to fool. Nobody who does a music video intends to fool. Its known that its synced.

  • @netjuzer I saw him live today. This is definitely NOT fake

  • I sat in on a demo he did with the electric version of the Chapman Stick. He is a great soloist too. Maybe where the metal guitarists got the idea for two handed tapping.

  • Actually, two-hand tapping goes pretty far back- you could see guitarists doing it to some extent in the early sixties. The chapman stick was invented to accomodate tappers who wanted the same tonal range as a pianist or organist.

  • More like70s late 1700's, tapping was invented back then as an easy way to transcript notes from more than one guitar sinchronized in classical compositions, It was barely ussed given the rate of the acustic guitar and the lack of importance of such instrument.

But it was transcripted, I think the instrument was the clavichord.

As for our actual tapping on guitar, the first recorded tapping comes rockabilly songs from late 1950s I think.

  • This looks like playing it on piano.. I mean hand coordination and difficulty and stuff...

  • it's peterman from seinfeld!!!

  • wow, Amazing! I love this version, very moving....

  • breath taking

  • GOBLINS IN THE TUNNEL!

  • The truth is you can follow the melody the entire time. Just close your eyes and listen..... and ignore the cheesy CG background. This is a wonderful Upscale version of Green Sleeves. All of you who think this is nonsense have just not listened hard or long enough.

  • i've never laughed as hard as i have today...what a cheese ball!

  • Why the clothes and the place?

  • I'm just waiting for one of those CG waves to crash over him and when it dissipates, he's shaking fish and seaweed off with his awesome head movements, still playing BADASS. :D

  • Man, great playing. Love that song. The shirt is epic.

  • fantastic

  • the stick playing is remarkable! but seriously, the cg backing is one of the cheesiest things i've seen in a while.

  • Awesome!

  • where is he playing?

    still amazing

  • It's Computer Generated

  • yeah i thought that but i still find it kinda funny how hes in like this ocean chapel thing just playing away on his chapman stick.

  • Yea i know and talk about classic attire... holy hell

  • Exquisitely beautiful playing, How do i find tabs for this song for stick?

  • Tabs for Stick??? Don't hinder yourself with tabs, it's better if you read sheet music.

  • What a great instrument and played so beautifully!

    Best,

    Duke
