This guy has serious pitch problems when singing live. I know he's in his 30s, and it gets harder to nail notes as your vocal chords age for some singers, but he needs to start writing in a lower key if he can't nail this stuff live.

I saw then in NYC a few years ago and even then he was pretty awful. Singing off key constantly. Just not a great live singer. I hope with the next album he starts singing lower this way he can sing that stuff live.

I agree, but the human voice shouldn't degrade like this until like age 50. Cedric has just been pushing it way too hard for years with bad technique. At this rate, he's already kind of fucked, so hey, why not give us a few more awesome volta albums? Or maybe do another el groupo de nuevo album?

@a1gold176 This happens to a lot of guys that try to sing like this. Geddy Lee went through the same thing, so he just started to sing lower and it worked out fine. At this point his voice is shot and Cedric's will be soon enough, but I really think they need to start lowering the key of older songs when they play them live, like Rush does, and on future albums just sing lower. This way when they play live he can actually hit a few notes on key, which he's unable to now.

@trenken Another thing is that on Mars Volta albums there's usually at least 2 vocal tracks at all times. One high, one low, and that's something i really really miss when i see them live. It makes them sound more bare, and not in a good way. Still, that's nit picking. Awesome live band. And Teflon is probably the best live song i've heard them do, and i've seen them on every tour cycle.
