I find it funny how she mentions they're great if you don't have a lot of space since that is wrong! Most store bought cages are way too small for piggies!
I have a C&C cage for my two boys and it takes up quite a bit of room.
Idk much abt gps but im loving the sound they make!
But idk if i have enough space for the cage, and i need to save $ for 2 gps... instead of a big flat cage, can a smaller 2-3 stories high one be an alternitive?
i have two guinea pigs and i love them! i know that they love their cage because when i put them on the carpet they climb back into the cage. they are the cutest and i am totally dedicated to taking care of them for their entire lives.
i bought a guinea pig in some pet shop i think he brought in some kinda bugs they look like worms to me i bought him a flea spray i think its working but what can it be? also the piggie looks kinda small and seems to be very shy can it be that he misses his mom?
i need to find one!!! I need a nice sweetheart! boy or girl! I WILL take care of it! Everyday sooooooo cute!!! And i don't mind spending some time or money!
i have a guinea pig, and they are not easy and not hard. They LOVE FOOD. I agree with eljagg01 they are animals treat them the way you would treat another animal dog cat human etc.
why isn't it mentioned that guinea pigs need HUGE cages, with lots of running space? not big like shown in the video, big like 4' by 2'. At least they said not to get them from a petstore...
I love piggies had one named Maya. She'd now dead but lived a long happy life with me. from 4 months to 6 years 1 month. I highly recomend piggies they are great pets.
positive: Rarely bite, loving, build incredible bonds, don't take up too much space, fairly quiet, minimal health problems if taken proper care of cute, fun etc.
negative: Takes a lot of attention and TLC (like any animal) They don't live long enough 6-8 year lifespan :(
@Smartiejes100 You're actually supposed to have more than one. In the wild, the lived in big groups and they're very social. They get lonely without another piggy. Just make sure they're a same-sex pair or one's been fixed; otherwise, you'll have a colony on your hands in no time.
i got 1 guinea pig and i think its lonley if i can get round my dad i can get one in 3 weeks but i dont no how to get round him i need alot of help cause my dads hard to get round but mario ( the guinea pig ) is lonley ;( dont like seeing him like that he is 3 months old would he get on with a other guinea pig ?
Some voodoo priests allege animal sacrifice is legal, protected under the constitution of freedom of religion. I am appalled by the practice. I say to them-why SHOULD animal cruelty be protected? Under the same argument, you don't see human sacrifices do you-that's illegal and is also NOT protected under one's "freedom of religion". Animal sacrifice should *NOT* be protected in any manner, shape or form. One can still practice Voodoo WITHOUT using animals, and that's a fact, and even be Vegan.
I hate to say this, but there are also Voodoo cults that "adopt" free to good home ads and sacrifice them to their gods (Loa). I'm 100% AGAINST this practice, and I try to spread to these voodoo organizations, that using animals is highly offensive to the gods. I have made a ripple in some of these groups, and hopefully it will spread-I have demonstrated one can summon the spirits WITHOUT using animals, and to live vegan lifestyles-consuming dead bodies is dirty and blasphemous to the spirits.
Not to mention when they are put in the paper with "free to good home" they end up in the belly of a Burmese python. You think I'm joking? I knew a guy, who said he knew a guy who said he would "adopt animals" in those free to good home ads and it was free snake food. When people feed these huge snakes large animals like rabbits or goats, they become desensitized, and justify "the snake needs to eat!" yes they do but they didn't have to buy a Burmese python in the first place.
It's worthwhile to note that a leash should be held loosely at all times. Guinea pig spines cannot handle the yanking people associate with dog-leash use. Guinea pig leashes are just a way for the owner to be aware of where the pig is walking and advising others to not step on the thing at the end of the string.
I have a guinea pig. She is the sweetest thing and so cute. Not the best start for a pet though. They stink and eat so much. But I love mine so much. I wont give her up though.

@susanmarie512 I think she means if you live in an apartment or condo because dogs need big yards (depending on the breed). And guinea pigs don't.

When I adopt one, should I get more than one, like two? And if so, male and female, or male and male?

"Starter pets". That's disgusting. Animals are living creatures. Don't adopt one unless you plan to care for him or her for their whole life!

One thing they didn't mention in the video, is that Guinea Pigs should be kept in at least pairs of two.
