  • in late 70s my parents flew from Jakarta - Spore using this airline, this aircraft. Great posting

  • That 767 at 4:48 looked like a giant. It is amazing to note that, among the wide-bodied jets, the 767 is one of the smallest aircraft at airports nowadays :))))))

  • The older airliners had class you could tell what ,who they were .What DC-8,DC-9 and 707,727,737,and who Douglas,Boeing aircraft and few form Lockheed . These engines had a sound that was music for a lot of the old the old school. What a great time it was then never to be seen again except here on you tube.

  • I love the sound of four straight Pratt Whitney JT8D jet engines on a DC-8, taxying out for take-off. Especially on a airliner belonging to a flag carrier. That sound is no more! Enjoy....

  • The engines are PW JT3D and aren't straight, are turbofan with low bypass, but are noisy, I really love the sound of this old birds, it's music for me!

  • GORGEOUS!

  • Scientologists hate this airplane, don't they?

  • Very nice, thank you for these impressions....

  • I love the DC8, but it's the 767-200 with JT9D engines we see half way to takeoff. The 767-200 is one SWEET bird!

  • how can you know it's a 200? Maybe it was a 300 equipped GE engines.

  • @nemlou. I'm a Boeing pilot - ha. This is a DC-8-50 series. I was referring to a completely different airplane - the 767-200 with JT9D engines that JAL flies. It's a beautiful bird (as was the DC-8)!

  • It was with this kind that JAL has to fly to my country, Brazil, in 1978. The flight stopped off in Anchorage, San Juan and finally arrived in Rio de Janeiro before moving to Sao Paulo-Campinas

  • These planes produce the most awesome roaring of all modern jets.

  • The absense of turbofans makes that toy engines such awesome roarers.

  • As if the DC-8 wasn't awesome enough the Trident takeoff in the background at 1:20 was an added treat.

  • you meant the tristar.

  • Nope! Definitely a t-tailed Hawker Siddeley Trident!

  • it is possible that a hawkker Siddeley

  • that had the old engines on it

  • I flew on one to germany back in 85

while i was in the army what a great plane!

  • awesome, see the CAAC Trident and the C-130 and other planes in the background. great take off
