• Have tried the:

Go to Start --> Run, and type in services.msc.

A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio. Right-click and click on Properties.

Make sure that "Startup type" is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under "Service status," start is selected.

    But "Audio" doesn't come up... ? What can i Do ? please ? :(

  • This had no effect. I went to the services page and the Windows Audio was already running. I stopped it and started it again and still no sound.

  • This guy knows his stuff, I was kind of pessimistic about some comments on here. But! his advice totally worked for me so +1 here my man you rule thank you!

  • I put it on start and everything, but it still says no mixer device :(

  • my predicament: experienced unusually high memory demand for svchost.exe so thru some inexplicable stroke of genius (''.) i decided to enable 'BITS' in the Windows Services window. once i rebooted ther was lyk 10% total volume capacity and it would thro an error that ther was no mixer available or sum such shi+ (''.) lol. i ended up going back into the Windows Services folder & on to 'Start the service' then i just clickd the shi+... should be the fix ryt there effective immediately ('',)

  • Fantastic solution, thanks a lot.

i have solve the audio problem using this video it is very help full

  • Go to your computer manufacturer website and click on support/driver downloads and enter the required info regarding your computer, you should be able to download the recommended driver, I did that and it worked for me.

  • it says "Could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer. Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.

  • THANK YOU!

  • You know, this video is actually slightly ironic. It's helping (through sound) to get the sound back on one's computer...

  • Thanks u it realy helps tyyyyyyy!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Worked great! For some reason, Windows XP SP3 kept saying "No Active Mixer" even though the audio still worked perfectly!!!!

For some reason, svchost.exe crashed due to an error at start up. Did as shown in video and now the mixer is back up. Such a weird OS...

  • @theblindsniper thats what is happening to me to you have any info on why that svchost.exe thing is happening because it does the same to me and I cant copy cut or paste nor drag and drop anything and i can't change volume

  • @duke1fan90 nooooo clue. From my own experience since it was on my laptop, it had to do with another program that made it crash at start up for some reason. Took off the program, never had a problem with sound again. So my guess is it could be a conflict somewhere. I'd do a clean boot with bare processes and see if there's something making it do that.

  • PLEASE help , it says , active X security settings dont allow me to see anything

  • why i dont have windows audio or windows sound

  • yea thanks for the vid

  • its worked thanks a lot...

  • tq...

  • Yippie it....Didn't work.

  • Thanks, worked... I was playing Oblivion: Shivering Isles when it crashed and put up a "Run time error Library C+++" message. I hate those ruins my fun most of the time lol.

  • thank u !!

  • wow i heard his voice at 1:09

  • thanks!!!

  • I never leave responses to videos but THANK YOU. Hearing the grainy sounds at the end of your video made my day. Cheers!

  • followed the written instructions. didn't even need the video. my sound works fine now. Thank you.

  • Велико хвала.Већ сам био исфрустриран неколико сати док нисам нашао овај видео.Нисам имао тон на рилплејеру а имао сам тон на јутубу.Свака вам част за снимак.

  • Ahhh!! CRAZY high volume at 1:30 in this video! About blew my headphones off! Beware!

  • @ericcox2 - LOL - i bet the OP was actually fixing his shi+ as he was recording it... that's Y the volume spike :P lmao

  • @ericcox2 if you have a volume then why are you watching this ?

  • @xXDARKFLAMEXx1 I was using one computer to research a problem I was having with another. Considering this video has audible narration, it would be sorta pointless to watch it on the one without sound, no?

  • This didn't work. it says could not start the windows audio service on local computer

  • It's work , thx

  • Haha I thought all that static once my sound came back was related to my Bose companion 5 speakers being heavily damaged somehow which was related to the loss of audio mixer but turns out you just had really crappy sound quality in your video. Maybe to make a dramatic statement due to the nature of your tutorial. Anyway thanks loads bro, I can live once again now that I've got the sound back.LOL

  • thanks brother!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love you so much right now!

  • Thanks so much for that. Fixed it straight away.

  • thx u so much

  • I tried this and i am unable to open the volume control STILL. Any help would be awesome guys. thanx

  • @dbzlover27

I am having the same problem as you, have you fixed your problem, if so how?

  • @dbzlover27 same here

  • if this does not work for you, file may be bad, I would recommend going to another computer with SAME operating system from main hard drive, find Windows folder, then within that folder find system32 folder and within that folder copy the sndvol32.exe file and then put it both on your desktop and into your system32 folder replacing current or missing sndvol.32.exe. then make sure that windows audio in services is set to started and automatic.
