  • Another really good safety tip when anchoring in a river is to keep a sharp serrated edge knife close to your anchor rope. During times of high river levels there is lots of debris coming downstream and most of it is under the surface where you can't see it. If something comes across your anchor rope it could snag itself and actually drag your bow down and sink your boat. If this happens take the knife and as fast as you can cut the rope and anchor loose. Better to lose the anchor than your boat
