  • Such star quality, even when she was ill with cancer

    so sadly missed

one of the true greats and a lovely person too

  • Neil Diamond?

  • 2:33 who is it?!

  • @northwindbrat I think she is Cheryl Ladd.

  • @Ingridsister thanks for the reply! I had to wiki Ladd because I didn't know who she is... -_-

  • Too bad AFI never gave an award to Ingrid and too bad she died only 3 years after this tribute to Hitch.

  • she was cute at 25, but here she looks and sounds like maggie thatcher.

  • who is that at 0:49?

  • @fiftieslover I think he is Christopher Reeve.

  • love her and the master of suspense hitchcock. LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!

  • oh funny! Ingrid.. fake it!

  • Everybody, please google Violette Szabo, a spy from WWII. You won't believe your eyes.

  • lol robin williams

  • @RJMLAVV2008 thank you so much!! you've been really kind...I've been looking for that scene for years and now I finally got it ...thanks again.

  • What a fabulous speech by the fabulous & ever-green actress! Ingrid Bergman is indeed the stuff that legends are made of :)

  • what a ift . what year was that ? that's funny , funny i tell you what, i dont care who ya are. Really what year was that?

  • Was that Hitchcock dude retarded?

  • @Twretborn Asking that question defines you as a complete slob.

  • Kim Novak disliked it

  • @procommenter Are you saying that all these people worship Satan?

  • I remember seeing this when it originally aired. I was a kid and was in awe of everything Ingrid Bergman. She was one of the true greats.

  • what year is this

  • she was wonderful

  • Someone must have told Hitch not to smile......lol ;D

    Ingrid's wonderful. ♥

  • @FlaxenHairedBeauty haha yes, he looks DEAD already

  • Roflol! "Ingrid - fake it."

  • Is it just me, or is Alfred Hitchcok's facial expression at 1:15 hilarious?

  • There has not since been so many brown-nosers, suck-ups, boot-licks & toadies at one gathering.

  • @procommenter What's wrong with acknowledging great, showing respect for talent?

I think you and mis-using the negative terms you used.

This a group of talented actors showing gratitude for a great film maker.

  • @tcampbellla : What has society gained by worshiping adults who pretend to be people they are not?

  • @procommenter Don't think these people had any reasons for sucking up as they were (and still are) famous themselves....

  • @you0107: They are Luciferians one and all.

-- luciferian : a member of a 19th century party of Satan worshipers believed to hold black masses ["Webster's Unabridged Dictionary," 1967, page 1343]

  • I love the way how she says Hitch cock

  • Ingrid Bergman looks wonderful, so elegant!

  • Ingrid Bergman - What a beautiful, talented lady .. love her films, Casablanca and all the others - A Gracious, generous lady - God Bless her and keep her....what a gift she was to us!!! Thanks for sharing..

  • Ingrid fake it ....

  • jabba the hitch

  • Aww, love this acceptance speech. I've just spent the night watching three of her films, love her.

Hitchcock really isn't big on showing emotion is he, if it were me, I wouldn't be able to help myself from smiling.

Love his advice to her also, I read about that yesterday, and was like, haha.

Hitchcock really was a genius, and Ingrid Bergman is a fantastic actress, marvelous.

  • @CHARMEDisHOT Hitchcock was quite literally dying at this point.

  • Ingrid was a looker she was hottttttt !!

  • @nowatout Ingrid was 65 that time :D

  • very pompous but quite delightful

  • Naaaa not Notorious ... No Torro's ... what a marvellous sence of humor... I love folks that can make a difference with their sence of humor.

AND indeed ... in my teens Ingrid' acts were my favorites... Hitchrock actually frighten the "sh..." ot of me... Maybe I wasn't yet a grown up person ..hmmm who knows...

@afi ... deeply appreciate and enjoyed every moment of ya upoaded post. ...from Budapest

  • Why so serious? haha

  • Merci pour cette vidéo et pour la Magnifique Ingrid Bergman

  • Ingrid had the nicest eyes, smile, voice, etc.

Hey what can I say, Im a HUGE fan and I so miss back-in-the-day shows celebrating stars like this one.

  • Haha, Robin Williams was in the audience! Hitchcock an Robin Williams in the same room, that's a movie in itself!

  • They just dont have this anymore , it sucks.

  • It's amazing to see how, after all the decades have gone by, Ingrid Bergman is still as fabulous, gorgeous and enchanting as ever, or even better. She truly is the epitome of genuine beauty, of elegance, and of sophistication. Those eyes and smile of her owned such warmth which makes her more unique... She's one kind of person whom you will find to take your eyes off... Ingrid Bergman, indeed, is A LEGEND! <3

  • thanks for posting this video. it was an extraordinary happenstance!

  • Tough crowd lmao

  • hitch has a very serious face, he dosen't smile once.

  • @YouriH190

I must say I agree. But at 2:59, he could have been giving even just a tiny bit of smile...

  • @samsamsamjitp perhaps, i'll double check,but i doubt it.

  • @YouriH190: Wouldn't you be serious, if you counted eighty years and had only a few months to live?

  • @hminkema yeah you do have a point, but least he's being recognized and has people around him who revere him, as well as actors and actresses who are deeply indebt and grateful at having the chance and oppurtunity to work with him. serious i would be, but if fine woman like ingrid bergman called me an adorable genius, i'd smile lol.

  • @YouriYuri Oh, but notice that Hitch shows this slightest of contractions of his mouth-cheek musculature as a reponse to Ingrid's calling him an 'adorable genius'. It means he can't help the urge to smile, in spite of his aim of giving us his deadpan persona - a persona that he both uses and sheds when delivering his acceptance speech.

It's all in the rhetoric. And don't forget he's European. We're all a bit freaky up here.

  • @YouriH190: And don't forget that Hitch was well-known for his deadpan delivery. Please check out his acceptance speech of the same evening! You'll find that being serious is part of his act, and that there is a very naughty boy inside all that serious weight.

  • @hminkema ohh yeah he had a very..i wouldn't say dry, but interesting sense of humor.

  • I love thank you for acknowledging what the public has admired for 50 years ... That was great

  • Did Hitchcock say, "Ingrid, fake it!" or "ingrid, f__k it!"

  • A great actress with a beautiful speech. simply charming!

  • Kim Novak who is so magnificent in Vertigo shuns these sort of galas. Too bad for that.

Glad to see the incomparable Ingrid Bergman was MC.

  • Back in the days when it was worth watching the AFI Awards, etc.

Full of pure class, talent & genius!

  • Re: retrogaming's comment... It is absolutely impressive how Bergman shot a few amazing films (Orient Express, Autumn Sonata and Golda) even after finding out she had cancer and after she had undergone surgeries. What a strong woman!

  • @you0107 I never knew that! Remarkable, to say the least.

  • @you0107 : She is Swedish! Swedish woman are strong!!!

  • Yeah, Hitchcock doesn't look well; remember he died the year after receiving his AFI award in 1980. He already had one foot in the grave I guess. Well, Ingrid Bergman didn't last much longer, she died 2 years later from cancer.

  • I think the wonderful Ms. Bergman's comment here is a great answer to the Actor's Studio - What is the job of an actor anyway? To relive your traumatic childhood moments or to effectively "fake it"? She was one of the best fakers in the history of cinema and I adore her.

  • Love her. LOVE HIM

  • What a Pro!

  • Is Hitchcock on drugs?

  • LMAO: "Ingrid, fake it."

  • Mr. Hitchcock doesn't seem to well there. I think that he was out of it.

  • @PureSoapCleans No, he just had a botox injection the day before. No problem.

  • @Jitpring Nah its just his natural aging. You can't see it...but he's smiling underneath all that fat!

  • 2:33

    is that Cheryl Ladd??

  • Wow, Robin Williams and Christopher Reeve look like kids!

  • That's called being young, it happens to most of us.

  • Love her swedish accent !! This speech is so funny !! "Ingrid , fake it !":))) I Love Ingrid !!!

She was such a great actress ! There won't be any other actress wich is as good as her !

    Thank you !

Hitchcock didn't smile very often or ?;)

  • Hehe, you can hear that she is swedish. But that doesn't matter.

  • what year was this?

  • 1979. Hitch died the following year.

  • I'm starting a petition to stop Universal Pictures from remaking Hitchcock's The Birds. Go to my profile and u can read all the information u need about how to sign the petition. I, for one, think it's an insult to even try to remake such a classic.

  • THEY'RE NOT. ARE THEY?!? FACK.

  • I know, right? Totally disrespectful! I was shocked when I heard about it. Anyway, if you'd like to sign the petition, go to my profile and get the information you need :)

  • Wikipedia says it's been put on hold... but I truly hope this never goes ahead. Doubtless the special effects will be much better, but the feel of the film will inevitably be worsened!

  • Vinther 1991 thanks for yr help!! now I'll see if I can find something out on youtube, in the meantime if you'll get any news pls let me know...thanks again fm Italy!!

  • Lovely clip of Ingrid - what a legend

  • Help!! a long time ago I've seen a scene in which an actress,Ingrid??,during something like an Award gave to an old actor a key lost years before while there were playng a film...it was a scene extremely touching...is there anybody that remember the name of the actor involved so that I can try to look for them on youtube???? Thanks in any case.

  • I have heard of it, and I am very sure that it was Ingrid Bergman who gave the key to somebody (either Hitchcock or Cary Grant). The key had a big role in the movie Notorious starring Ingrid Bergman, Cary Grant and Claude Rains, and it was directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

  • Grant took the prop key from the famous wine cellar scene in Notorious, saying it gave him enormous luck and fortune. Later, he gave it to Bergman, wishing it would do the same. Years after that, Bergman gave it to Hitchcock at the Lifetime Achievement Award ceremony.

  • There's a clip of it in the extra's on the Notorious DVD

  • which one? I have the criterions and could not find a clip

  • It's the MGM DVD version. Got it at Barnes and Noble online if that helps.

  • @caneflick Type in Ingrid Bergman and Hitch in the youtube search box and it is the first result. It's also included in the MGM DVD of Notorious.

  • @caneflick Type in "Ingrid Bergman and Hitch" in Youtube searchbox. It is the first video.

  • It's a starking contrast seeing Cary Grant laughing his guts out at 2:57 (you can even hear him) and Hitch staring at her emotionless. :)

  • That's because he was in terrible health...he died six weeks later.

  • what's the matter with Alfred? How can he stares like that in front of an angel like Ingrid.

  • he was very ill by that time. he could hardly stand up at the end. that was the reason.

  • ... ohh I see

  • Yes...he died six weeks later at age 81.

  • Man, hitchcock looks so depressed, smile a bit man.

  • And that' how I feel about Ingrid, Alfred & Cary...SPELLBOUNDED.

    Thanks:D

  • La más hermosa y grande actriz hablando del maestro. Simplemente maravilloso. CarlosJ
