I got the XS8 a year ago, and I'm still basically confused on how to got further than the basic voices. the manual is just a lot confusing. Does anybody know a link to a good tutorial So can take full advantage of this keyboard?

I got lucky; (April 2011) my local music store had a used XS6 without a scratch on it for $1200. The XF is out, and they thought the XS was outdated. Considering it will take me about 5 years to learn what the XS can do, I don't care that it's last year's model. My MO6 is similar, I hope, so I don't have to start learning from scratch. I still consider my MO6 to be awesome: great voices, great sequencer, just doesn't have a sampler or voice coder.

@ezeraphael : Push your utility button then you will see second line down "note transpose". Use your increase and decrease buttons to change. For example if playing in key of C and you push +1 the sound coming out will now be the key of C#. So it goes in half steps up and down. Hope that helps :)

you're going to need to go down to the store and try them side by side. A good instrument is like an old friend and you'll click with the right one. I decided on the XS8 in the end just because the motif reproduced acoustic sounds to a tee. keep in mind if you buy one of these you're gonna want to buy more ram to do more complex things. The roland i hear is easier to learn though. going on a year now and i still havn't learnt all the functions. Miles off.

Motif XS is very beautiful, but MOTIF ES is more beautiful to see. The black colour under the panel seems that it is an arranger keyboard like Yamaha S900 etc. and doesn't reveal the ports on the front panel. This eliminates the professional look of the instrument. It would have given the same green/blue colour of the upper panel to the whole instrument like Motif ES. Who designed this??? - Musician. Jerry de Great

I had a small question. As Bert says, there are lots of arpeggios which can recognize chords from our playing.. Is it possible to synthesize our own arpeggio in it ? For instance, if I have have to make my own guitar style, with strumming, picking and harmonics ?

IMO The motif has better natural instruments. Guitar, Piano, etc.

M3 has better synths, pads etc.

This can be great on stage, but I think is more geared for the studio. For ive playing, check out the new Yamaha S90XS. It has alot of hands on knobs and sliders for immedaite layering and has fantastic piano sounds.
